M1 posts 19.5% fall in 3Q net profit to $33.1m

M1 Limited posted a 19.5% fall in net profit after tax for the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2012, to $33.1 million from $41.1 million a year ago. Revenue for the same period rose 4% to $254.7 million.
During the third quarter, M1 said it added 24,000 customers, bringing the total mobile customer base to 2.059 million as at Sept 30, 2012. Monthly postpaid churn improved to 1.2%, compared to 1.3% in the preceding quarter. As at Sept 30, M1 had 44,000 fibre customers.
Earnings per share for the quarter stood at 3.6 cents, down from 4.5 cents from a year ago.
