
Thai shares fell as much as 4.2% -- their biggest one-day loss since May 2004 -- when trading resumed after a military coup, led by stocks associated with the ousted prime minister.
But the key Thai stock index later recouped some of its losses to end only slightly lower, as investors hoped that the military takeover, which has been peaceful so far, may end the political impasse in Thailand.
SET closed down 1.42%, led by a 2.8% loss in the country's top energy firm PTT PCL
Shares in firms founded by, or associated with Thaksin plunged as investors feared a potential backlash including further investigations into his family's sale of its stake in Shin Corp
Among those companies, Shin Corp fell 5.7%, while Shin Satellite

Regional index Mon all mostly can go up but will not be so good as Friday. May 26,2006, for SGX, Mon watch properties and oil play, some go up some come down (din dong din dong)co's oil is selling above US70/- liao.
monday STI will be up by 5.3 pts.
Hi tanglinboy, thk for posting. Monday can be another green green day but will not be 53pts or even at 40ptsco's oil px up a US1/- SGX vol is still good while gainer 464 out nos loser 137 counters. co's i see some profit taking today aft it goes up, so Mon will be d same, business as usual.
