Mainboard-listed Darco Water Technologies, the provider of integrated engineering and knowledge-based water treatment solutions, has secured multiple contracts with a combined valued of $11 million in two months.

Most of the projects stemmed from the electronic, semiconductor and solar power manufacturing industries in Taiwan and Malaysia. Of the 10 contracts secured, Taiwan contributed 87.7% of the project value, followed by Malaysia and Singapore at 7.3% and 5.0% respectively. The more significant orders came from Taiwan Solar Energy Corporation, Formosa Sumco Technology Corporation and Gintech Energy Corporation.

The latest contracts bring Darco’s total order book to $41.3 million.

Thye Kim Meng, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Darco, says: “The series of contracts clinched marks a new chapter for our group as we conclude the embezzlement case announced last week. As seen from the breakdown of projects, our operations in Taiwan remained fundamentally strong despite this issue. The recovery of the industrial manufacturing sector has translated to an increased number of projects secured this year, which will positively impact our financial results in FY2010 and FY2011.”

On the municipal front, its wholly-owned subsidiary, Darco Engineering (Taiwan) Co., Ltd, announced in March 2010 that it has clinched a $79.0 million project to build and operate a 15,000 cubic metres per day wastewater treatment plant under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) arrangement from the Taoyuan county government of Taiwan. With a concessionary period of 35 years, this project is expected to bring in an estimated revenue of $298 million. The group will begin to receive maiden contributions from FY2010 on progressive construction activities.
