The stock has just split (1 to 2), so you should look for counter CFSS.SG, now at 2.7.

Be cautious with this counter... if you look at the charts, its actually on a downtrend.

China Fish surged accompanied by favourable comments from traders noting its lull season is over and the best period was now. Other spivvy talks suggest that it could be 'pushed for funding needs - ie placement'.

Hi jimmyonghl,

What TA charts are you look at? From the Acc/Dist and RSI charts for China Fish, it can be seen that the trend is pretty flat. So I'm not surprised that this counter is not moving.

DBSV says it has raised its rating with a 12-month target price of $3.53 after the firm said it was proceeding with its acquisition of fishmeal businesses in Peru for US$100m.

"This allows China Fisherys entry into the lucrative fishmeal and oil business, via operating four fishmeal processing plants with a processing capacity of 381 tons per hour together with 13 fishing vessels with total storage capacity of 3,893 cubic meters," DBSV said in a note to clients.

"We expect the acquisition in Peru to increase earnings next year by 5.8%, by assuming our base-case scenario that fishmeal prices stay at US$1,000 per tonne," it said.

The brokerage now expects net profit to grow to US$54m this year to US$82m next year and to US$84.9m in 2008.

It was higher after the company announced it was proceeding with the proposed acquisition of fishmeal businesses in Peru for US$100m after completing its due diligence on the Peruvian companies, dealers said.

Cazenove Securities said this is positive for the company as the acquisition, which includes four fishmeal factories and 13 fishing vessels, is earnings accretive for China Fishery.

The Peruvian acquisition is expected to contribute US$18m out of the US$81.80m net profit that Cazenove is forecasting for China Fishery next year. This year, Cazenove expects China Fishery to post net profit of US$49.8m compared with US$30.7m last year.

DBSV has reduced its price target to $3.38. China Fish typically sees 2/3 of its earnings in 1H06 due to higher ASP and margins during the fish roe season, hence it is expected to report 1/3 of its earnings in 2H06.

Cazenove has a price target to $3.80. Hence I see a tug-of-war with the price ranging from $3 to $3.30. Investors may want to take advantage of this.
