Ah, I think I understand now.

Since I have 15 mothershares, I'm entitled to 40.5.

Also, since it's not a whole number, I'll have to buy or sell 0.5 of them?

Hi Chewbacca, on your question of odd number of shares, please note that after the 27 for 10 Rights issue there is another 10 to 1 consolidation. As you have 15000 mother shares and 40500 Rights, you add up very odd number total 55500. After consolidation you get final number of 5550...

A few ways of squaring them to THOUSANDs:

1. is to BUY Rights equal to 4500 + n*(10000) where n=0,1,2,3... then your total shares would become 55500+4500+n(10000)=60000+n(10000)

2.  is to SELL Rights equal to 5500+m*(10000) where m=0,1,2,3..

both 1 and 2 need to pay trading fee. And you need to do this within the rights trading period, I think this ends on 31 March.

3.  yet another way, most  likely the preferred way, is to APPLY FOR EXCESS RIGHTS, quantity would be 4500+n*(10000). n=1,2,3... this would let you have total shares of 60000+n(10000). Hence after consolidation, your FINAL total quantity would be 6000+n(1000).

Note that company would give you priority on excess rights application to square off odd lots. However, there is no guaranteed of company would allocate the quantity of excess rights you applied for.

Hope this helps you when you want to round off your total FINAL shares.

you should see Chartered R in you CDP account , but not with your broker.

GO and apply CDP online account now so that you can view your statement via internet.

https://www1.cdp.com.sg/web33/scdcint/pinregistration/imain.do

you must be very sure you have share in CDP account before SELL, or else you are subjected to buy-in and fined.

I can either sell them @ 0.25 right now, or convert them for $70 per lot at a later date to mother shares.

Also, since it's not a while number, I'll have to buy or sell 0.5 of them?

But should the rights appear under my portfolio already? I mean, I'm using poems. Should I see 45000 Chartered R under my portfolio? Or is that invisible?

If you were holding chartered before ex-rights, that means you are already entitled shareholder to chartered rights.. The mother share price already get adjusted to current market price.. So you as an entitled shareholder, you do not need to bother about buying nil-paid rights from the market.

But you cannot throw away your Rights for subscibing to the 27 for 10 rights at rights exercising price of 7 cents... If you throw that away, you loss more.. What is the price of your nil-paid rights now?? the market said 2.5c now. it will change over this rights trading period..

I hope you understand that you have a few options:

1. See away your nil-paid rights.. Market determine the price..over only next few days

2. Exercise by paying 7 cents for your rights and convert to mother shares

 3. Do nothing: then give those 'money' away to other people who is more than happy to apply for excess-rights..

Chewbacca      ( Date: 23-Mar-2009 13:26) Posted:

So, even if I'm holding some chartered before the rights issue, I can opt not to buy anything, right? But is it a good idea to buy? Or doesn't matter?

For those who end up with odd lot of 500 shares and you are not happy to hold odd lot, you might want to trade ( buy 500 more or sell off your 500). the counters are now listed as Capitaland 500 ( HI6)

your calculation is correct.

however, the market decides.  Rights share price open at 2c even mother share is 11-11.5c.

for those who buy rights at 2c, if he pay 7c to convert to mother share, his cost is 9c plus come trade commission.

Hi all, for those who have vested, may I ask if the nil-paid rights will start trading on 23 Mar at 0.105 - 0.07 = 0.035 cents? Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks in advance for the advice. Cheers~!

the 'new mother shares' convert from the Rights shares have already been credited in CDP account.

you may just login to CDP to check , once you see your CDP have the shares you can sell

capitaland share Ex-rights is on 19 Feb.

You bought on 6 March , is EX-rights, or EXCLUDE Rights. Therefore you were not entitled for the Rights .

Thus your application was rejected by CDP and capitaland

Chua_01.

1. Are you 'entitled shareholder'? if yes, you CDP statement will show with Capitaland_R.

2. if you are NOT entitled shareholder before company share traded Ex-rights, then, do you buy rights during the rights trading period?

they do not meet stock exchange criteria or .. traded over the counter (OTC) or as pink-sheet.

read following for knowledge :

http://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/201.asp

does that sound better than to suspense for trading? but at that price, the commisions is much higher than the share price unless buy in several 10 to 100 of million shares on one trade.

Expected issuance of new rights share: 20 mar, Friday.

Expected trading of new rights share : 23 Mar Monday

as such you can check you CDP statement on 20 mar for new shares converted from exercising of rights.

the CDP still has the Capitaland_R, however this has been delisted in sgx (remark is DL)so you cannot do anything , just wait for it to be converted to mother shares

I dun think fund manager is FEAR type. Afterall, they play with other people maney and their fund charge are still a percentage irregardless of the market up or down. Like taking commision.
