Wah, this seems to be your first post. Be very careful on stock investment, it is dangerous if you are not equipped with the skill, knowledge and count on beginner luck. There are many posts for newbie, perhaps you should start reading them and get some good ideas on what is stock investment before commit your money into the market. The market is a school of real hard knock.

oh it takes a while for me to understand your logic.. which is 'take out CPF money'. well, i do not think so, at least i think we should plan to invest in a way that both CPF money is also very precious to us, and take slightly conservative approach of selecting stock that are solid ( but can be boring) so that this money will grow more than the 'CPF interest rate'. Perhaps better to have dividend also so that the dividend, which will be credited into CPF , will increase the value over reasonable long time.

Price under heavy pressure and down a lot recently. Then when it was removed from MSCI index, it went south further. Last night it just released quarter result as follow: Parkway Holdings said it reported a 4% rise in Q1 2009 revenue to $237.8m for the first quarter of 2009 compared to $228.7m for the same period in 2008. Excluding exceptional items, the group notched up a 20% increase in net profit for the quarter, with $23.4m for 2009 versus $19.6m for the preceding year. Helping to propel this growth were Parkway’s international operations, which recorded a 20% increase in total revenue, from $72.9 million in Q1 of 2008 to $87.5 million for the same period in 2009. EBITDAR for the group’s international operations surged 29% to $18.2 million in 2009, compared to $14 million in 2008. The group’s healthcare services also performed well, with the services in Singapore registering 36% year-on-year increase in EBITDAR to $9 million. Inpatient admissions at Parkway’s Singapore hospitals fell slightly in Q1 of 2009, and were down 3.7% from the same quarter in 2008. The drop in admissions was also in line with a fall of 13.8% in tourist arrivals to Singapore in the first quarter of the year compared to the same period in 2008. However, this is mitigated by the strong growth shown by Parkway’s healthcare services in Q1 2009, which was fuelled by good performances across the services, such as Parkway Shenton’s primary healthcare services, and Parkway Laboratory Services’s diagnostic laboratory services. Parkway’s international operations also delivered outstanding performance in the first quarter of 2009, with revenue rising 20% to $87.5 million and EBITDAR growing 29% to $18.2 million. The main drivers of this growth were the group’s facilities in Malaysia, particularly the Pantai group of hospitals, and the Gleneagles JPMC Cardiac Centre in Brunei and Shanghai group of clinics. |

from SGX website The attention of the Board of Directors ("Board") of Golden Agri-Resources Ltd (the "Company") has been drawn to the IFR Asia ECM Briefing notes dated 14 May 2009 ("Brief") which states: "BNP Paribas and Credit Suisse are handling a rights issue for Singapore-listed Golden-Agri Resources to raise roughly S$293m (US$200m). The major shareholder of the company is the Widjaja family, which owns 48.5% of the company. Golden Agri is the world’s second largest oil palm plantation (by planted hectarage) and its main area of business is in Indonesia. The company is releasing its financial results for its first quarter ended March 31 results tomorrow". The Company constantly considers opportunities to improve its performance and to strengthen the Company and its subsidiaries' (the "Group") financial flexibility and competitive position to support the Group's growth as and when opportunities arise. As such, the Company is currently in the process of considering a rights issue (“Proposed Rights Issue”) and is in discussion with potential managers and underwriters, including but not limited to the banks identified in the Brief. The Board wishes to clarify, however, that the Company has not yet formally engaged managers and underwriters in relation to a Proposed Rights Issue. It is in discussion on terms of a Proposed Rights Issue and the amount to be raised, but has not entered into any definitive documents in relation thereto. There is no certainty that a Proposed Rights Issue will proceed and the Board advises shareholders and investors to exercise caution in dealing in the shares of the Company and to refrain from taking any action in respect of their shares which may be prejudicial to their interests. The Company will make relevant announcements at the relevant time to update shareholders if there are any further developments in relation to a Proposed Rights Issue. In Singapore share market, most shares have what they called BOARD-Lot. normally 1 lot =1000 shares. For Kepland, it is 1 lot=1000 share. As the Rights issues is 9 for 10, so for 1000 shares, the entitled rights is 900, anything that is not multiple of 1000 is termed as odd-lot. Now, as many people will have this odd lot after the 9 for 10 rights issue, therefore, during rights trading period, some people might want to sell the odd lot, or buy some odd lot just to square his total shares ( meaning they want to round it to the 1000's.) Another very common method to square off odd lot is just apply for excess rights. While compay gives priority to investor for squaring their odd lot, there is NO guaranteed that company will approve the application. In order for trading of odd lot of rights to take place, SGX will create two counters, one of them is called Kepland_R , which is for trading of 1000-share board lot. Another counter is called Kepland_R100, for trading of 100-share per lot. Hope this help you to understand the meanings .

Geneva88, Yes, Cash account ( your CDP hold the shares) and CPF account are totally different. If you SELL a stock held in CPF using Cash account , it is a naked short sell! Because they cannot find your holding in CDP!. Please be very sure of clicking CPF when you want to SELL those shares held in CPF.

hello oinkoink1999, i spent sometime today to study and come to a 'suggested price formula' . however this is just my opinion as i have never tried checking warrant before. if any other sifus have a solid formula to explain please share so that i can benefit from learning. As this has Rights cum warrant, both exercising price of 0.09 and ratio is 1 warrant ride on one right. Thus the person owning one lot of rights cum warrant can convert them into two lots of mother shares. Imagine now i am a person with no mother share, and i want to buy the nil-paid right from market , say just 1 lot, pay the price. later i must pay 0.09 to convert to one lot of mother shar, i have limited time and must do it by short deadline. At the same time i have one lot of warrant allowing me to convert to one lot of mother within 3 year expiry. When i finally exercise, i also need to pay 0.09 to convert. But since 3 year is a long time, i must 'extrapolate' and predict that the company should become better in 3 year time. So i am willing to pay for a premium, unless the market is happy to give me a cheap discount because the market predict it is worst off for next 3 years. So my cost for TWO lots is likely = 1 lot of nilpaid rights price + 0.09 (convert on lot to mother) + 0.09 ( convert one lot warrant to mother later)+ warrant premium. Hence nilpaid right market price = 2x mother share price - 2x0.09 Check this on actual four days of tradings, take 13.5,13.5,13.5,13.0, simple average=13.38c nilpaid right price by suggested formula = 2x13.38 - 2x0.09 +premium = 8.76c compare the average closing price of nilpaid rights, 9.5,10,10,9.5, simple average =9.75 may be a 1cent to two cent premium people is willing to pay for 3 year warrant. Note first day some trade at 12cents anyway this is just my thinking.. market is always right as it decide nilpaid right price and mother price and dont follow our formula and logic. it has his own logic.. haha.
