I find it ironic why MAS bans these banks  ? This will not bring back the lost money.  Our government should be very careful with FUTURE investment products that coming from US especially those 'bad debts' that might be bundled into investment products and sell to the whole world.........

Have we heared anything from MAS about : how to prevent such mistake (sub-prime) from happening again and improvements to the present financial systems or a set up of 'watch dog' to guard against the future products?...'woof woof'  LOL

I concur. In the same breath, it is also common to see low volume in a bear market. Besides wat u know(FA & TA), you need to use good judgement and TIMING.Smiley

My main gripe about low volume counters is that these are prone to price-manipulation. It has nothing to do with whether the company is good or not in the long term.

When vol is low ppl dont buy, the daring will think its time to buy.

Oh...according to CNA report, MAS said that I implied, their employees are subprimed, their in-house control is subprimed, how they sell is subprimed.

So they are banned because they did not con people in an orderly and professional way lor.....yup that it what my brain implied.

Citi did it in a professional way....remember...Citi never sleep.....always thinking of selling something....

AK's info comes in timely, i was looking for this news when i heard over the news ...

Why Citi group is not  in the list?  They are still selling Merrill lynch products which was on verge of bankcruptcy and causing Bank of America to take over and now ended up its chairman Lewis kenna probbed by Fed......  Bank of America must have regretted to agree to take over in the first place..

Hmm just to clarifty there's a few types of broker

1. One that trades 90% for themselves and 10% used to serve clients

2. One that only place order, no buy or sell call

3. One that advise clients - these either die super fast or only serve mega clients - explaination below

When a broker gives a buy/sell call - if client lose money - client leave - broker no business - die

When a broker gives good buy/call constantly - he will upgrade and only accept big account and not waste his time with small investor

It depends on what u r looking for actually and how u define a good broker - one that gives good calls or ..... Look around and u will be able to find 1 good one eventually.

Admit that I am a small-timer when trading with my very own account. Hence, I asked my broker for some advice. Following are the email exchanges.

Taitai  :  Market is very dead. Any recommendations which counter to look at?

Broker  :  Market is flat.......just stay away till there is more vol /activity.

Taitai  :  flat market no need to earn money? (actually i am referring to myself, not her)
do you see a surge in volume over the next few days?

Broker :  If u r so smart to earn $ in a flat market, please give me a tip.

Taitai :  Like that say, then maybe I could become a broker and earn some comm instead. I am looking for advice from my broker.

What are the ethics of the brokers nowadays, or mine is just so lousy. My trading volume with her is low cuz she never gives me any advice. I may sound cheapskate but really, besides paying comm to use the brokerage trading platform, I really hope that the other few cents comm don't go to the broker.

is it true that when vol dries up at a drop in price a sign no more willing seller? support price  and signal  a change in trend.? and a slow in vol when moving up signal a unwilling buyer price will change in trend too..  1 lot buy up is to trap people who do not have acess to vol indicator, and 1 lot sell down to trick into selling down..  still learning pls advice thks

Actually its true that a market with greater volume is a better one to trade in. Actually not a bad piece of advice,

Low volume conditions are very difficult to predict price movements. And trends, if any, are not sustainable. It is easy to lose money.

Classic examples are penny counters.

FO? I just checked all my dictionaries but still could not find the meaning... hehehe... Smiley

The best broker is your boadband Internet account.

But many people enjoy long conversations with their broker, since it gives them a great sense of satisfaction

and feeling of importance.

But for brokers to provide such a service (long conversations), one must have a solid account to start with.

When I was trading with my broker previously, I only place my orders and hang up.

Why not take up some chart studies yourself and then place your own bets with an online account?...

It may be hard work, but this is the only way to trade...

But if you have any good solid tips, don't forget to let your favourite broker know so he/she can also make some money... Smiley

Definitely I know the house-rules, but I am merely asking for advice. I am not the type who will follow blindly, broker say sell i sell, broker say buy i buy. If really like that she will be a rich broker, and to think she will gimme such an attitude.

I am beginning to wonder what's the point in paying brokerage. Of cuz, there is a fee we should pay for using the brokerage platform, other than that, these remisiers should juz FO.

Andrew      ( Date: 07-Jul-2009 17:45) Posted:

Actually....broker, remisiers are not supposed to offer a buy or sell call lor. Brokerhse forbid that leh.

They can tell you the market situation....why that share moving....

My broker used to use mobile phone to call me ......she say buy this.....I say OK.......a few day later....she call again....sell this....I say OK.....then collect money lor....

My wife's broker also like that, her co-worker's broker also like that.....made money a many times....also loss money a few.....overall .....small win la.....

Want to make more money ? Study FA, TA......the way to go.

Tai Tai also must keep up with time lor......BE A SUPER TAI TAI....cheers....
