What a strange date - 28 September! Did the Board consult a fortune-teller who subsequently advised on this seemingly auspicious date??? I thought only the small private companies would adopt financial year ends such as 8 August, 16 August, etc?

Say, Pacific Andes bought up to 90% of China Fishery's shareholding and is required by law to buy up the balance 10% shares it does not own, could it make a ridiculous low offer price for the remaining 10% shares? Anyone familiar with the takeover codes? Even if the offer price must not be lower than the highest price Pacific Andes acquired the shares in the last 6 months or 2 years (I am not sure), there is a risk that the offer price may be lower than what one originally paid for the shares. Hence, it may not be a good idea to rush in now on the assumption that the major shareholder will delist the company with an attractive offer. Incidentally, it did cross my mind whether the aggressive buying by Pacific Andes was due to the need to maintain China Fishery's price in order to satisfy certain loan or debt covenants? Just a wild guess - given the fact that China Fishery is highly geared. |

Pac Andes' purchases of China Fishery may just be to accrue more of its earnings into its books as CFG's results are consolidated. Thus, I do not see much reason for speculation of a delisting and privatization. For me, nothing to get excited about. Let's wait for their FY 2009 results by end-Nov 2009 (year-end has been changed to Sep 28). |

Pac Andes has since accumulated more of China Fish since we started discussion. China Fish is breaking out of the upper Bollingerband band with a nice uptrend. Volume appears to increase but not substantial. Maybe it is time that it bounds instead of upward crawling.... | ||||

If what our reasoning is right, then any dips in price for the FISH would be a good buy. If I remember clearly, this stock was more than $3. The strategy China govt or companies do is to exploit any resources outside China and then feed them back to China for consumption regardless of oil, resources and even food. Pac ANdes + China Fish would be too good a theme for listing in China Market since China Fish itself make more than US100 million yearly. |
