No. Still must pay $5.42. If buy 2 lots $9 each, must add $5.42 for the third lot. So, average is $7.81.

can i say that if buy 2 lot's free 1 lot,base on current price $9 divide by 3 then 1 lot equal to $6? possible dbs will drop to $6 after this promotion? feel free to discuss...

If we did not have DBS as a black sheep in the STI, STI would have done much better. DBS is the only stock hovering at 52 wk low as investors totally lost confidence in DBS and is dumping the stock as fast as they can. |

Usually we buy by 1 lot which is 1000 shares. Since it is 1 rights for every 2 shares, you will be given 500 shares.

The rightl issue is trying to make investor buy more to round of the rights. Likely to sell the right issue at a profit. But you will be holding more DBS shares. I am negative towartd the right issue, then again i maybe wrong.. (How temasek holding going to move will affect DBS share price, this is sometime i cannot anticipate...) I am looking closely at the business model of a banking system, how banks going revert to fat gain again...If u have a good understand, perhap it is a good opportunity to buy more DBS share as it will be depress. More Administrative cost to consumer or interest rate hike to consumer (which is now happen in US) Sudden increase in credit rate to suck more out of cunsumer.. The congress is coming out with law to make this illegal on Visa and Mastercard ( Wait and see the situation) |

Understand. Thus, Will it be a better choice to sell my current lot at a lost of a few hundred dollars. Or purchase one more lot to average it out. OR do nothing ? I really dun think the banking sector is doing well :( |

I think i might do a long term short on DBS .. Might be very profitable Dun see where the new revenue is coming for DBS in 2009. Show me where DBS will make alot next year From...WHICH AREA DBS WILL MAKE ALOT OF MONEY. SITTING ON CASH DUN GET U RICH. Use the right issue to redeem their own loan ( to make a accounting profit perhaps, so that writedown will be less significant) Government should lower tier 1 ratio BAILOUT PUMP CASH AND RAISE TIER RATIO DEFEAT THE PURPOSE FOR BAILOUT NOT LENDING IN THE ECONOMY ??? From Investment - maybe not in 2009 From Loan - So cautious how to get more profit (shrink lending meaning less profit) Credit Spending - likely to be curb.. (nore write off) From Selling investment profuct - units trust and credit deriative (most dun dare to buy) The busineess model is likely to be weaken, in a recession. |

With 500 shares, your money is less liquid. It is always better with 1000 shares since that is the trading lot. | ||||

hi. do u know for sure / where is it stated that for exisiting 1 lot u can subscribe to 500shares at $5.42? cos the news only stated "DBS will issue one new share for every two held by existing investors at S$5.42 apiece, according to a statement today. "

I agree lor. If so good, company will have taken up all the shares instead usually. Small investor is their last resort. hmm buy now will take higher risk. coz market will remain bearish for long long time. However, can buy some to keep right |

It can take many month to do a writedown on investment, even it is impair investment can argue with the auditor that there is a residual value in the investment.. Writedown are not done immediate usually spread over time. Got many good example in the local market for people to see.. DBS is alway under pressure to perform, so i dont think they are cautious about investment, so i expected DBS to get the biggest hit in times of turmoil as it is the most aggressive among the local bank... (Might made a few wrong investment due to the pressure to perform)) - This happen to individual and companies.. (Patience is a big virture when it comes to investing) |

Honestly when I invested in DBS, I went for the quarterly dividends. I hope they maintain their quarterly dividends, if not I will also say "bye bye" to it just like I say "bye bye" to Biosensors. |

Be careful Warning: ( DBS will complete the right issue then do a big write down, like what happen to temasek investment in Citi and UBS) Learn from the American to cheat local people.. ( Got conned before) Subscribe at your own risk.. If 45% discount so good why temasek do not come up with statement if in the event of unscrible of right issue, they will take up all right issue??? Why only 1/3 of the right issue/. ( For you to ponder) Guess Guess Guess
