i think you misunderstand. I'm considering going into the US market for long term, not short term speculation. Don't really appreciate your tone, by the way.

I'm also in training myself  up but still lose money on  cfd a/c thou not alot. I think its a  psychological issue  for me to see  statistics ie. margin, cash resources ticking  live at the top of platform screen which affects me alot. Whenever i see deficit on  trade order,  i want to cutloss. Its a  sure way to lose milkshakes like that zzzz. Whenever i  attempt shorts to  practice textbook theory in market's live firing range, its  normally half of what i will go long on to reduce risk exposure. As for  some of us  here (ie. crystal, ic and jfierce)  who  wants to venture into  US market to strike it big, please ask yourself whether  you've  got the fortitude to win  consistently on sgx first. Nyse is the world's largest casino stock market, so  you've better be a good gamer because the house is  one fast  ticker. You've  got to  lookout for pre market gaps, opening, lunchtime chop, closing and after  market hours plus news reading  sometimes thru the night. Can hardly have dinner with a peace of mind  or go  on dates at night if  into active trading.  First foray  into foreign waters  do not  go  trade  on  cfd or options, until  one plans to topup like mad. If you don't have spare money to lose, then  is it worth the risk.  I'm saying all these with the exception of  BT aura  because he's in  a completely  different league.

You are so right...   Small players lose less...         Big players lose more...              The stocks game is all about how not to lose much.                   Gains are a secondary consideration.                         Thus, if one can play without losing (nett loss),                                 That alone is already a big achievement....                                         Make no mistake about it...                                               it is really a very challenging game...                                                     Otherwise there won't be so many teachers around... ![]()

I go for high volume, so I let go at fewer bids. Some go for low volume, so they let go at higher bids. Some play for earnings announcements, so they let go just before or just after announcement. It all depends on what you are doing and what you want.

BT. Would just like your advice.   I remember you posted yest that should try to take profit at 3-4 bids. I managed to hit that target on stx osv earlier on but i didnt let go. Is that strategy wrong as i am waiting to let go the day before results?   I see Gaecia and Icetomato holding even though they might hit 9-10 bids above buy price. *disclaimer this is related to stx osv only*. I know got no wrong no right.. so for newbie traders.. i should try to cut at 4 bids profit even though a few days before result as a general trading strat?

When I started out, I only had 30k as capital. So yeah, consistent profits is the key.

" To 'make a killing' in the stock market, one has to " mau" bigly...     That is the only way to become rich in the stock market... " i prefer to aim for consistent profits....  my goal is to  win about 25% of my capital every month :D

To 'make a killing' in the stock market, one has to " mau" bigly...     That is the only way to become rich in the stock market...           But unfortunately, that is also an easy way to become poor.                 On the other hand, to enjoy the thrill of playing stocks,                         one should play it like Gaecia... ![]()
