They are bundled by six shares to one TDR.  So to trade say, 1000 TDRs, you are trading 6000 Maptech shares in Taiwan.  Since only shares "assigned" to be TDRs (which in this case 228 millions Maptech shares giving 38 million TDRs) are traded, the plain shares must be to some extent "locked" away to assume another identity (TDR), you have lesser Maptech shares in the market.  It is like cancelling the shares, but in this case, the TDR shares are traded outside Singapore. 

I might be wrong because I am also new in TDRs and only say what I digest from the notices provided by Maptech.  But I don't think I am wrong because our human minds only works according to logic pertaining to matters presented before us.  Cheers, let me know if I am wrong.

Once approved by the Taiwanese authorities, 228 million shares will be "converted" to 38 million TDRs (present 6 shares to one) and our SGX may have lesser shares to trade.  Supply and demand comes into the play, so shares likely to move up owing to 2 factors, one: lesser shares, and two foreign play.

Haha, dual listing is not placement share or rights lah. Basically it is to list its share in both Taiwan & S'pore.

In actual is quite positive to stock.
