huatua, No worries.......remember, in Aug/Sep07, SIA did a mandatory capital reduction cum share buy back at $18.46. So, mgmt must believe that that was a good price to do a buy back. |

when one built up it's brand name and loyalty base, it can afford to 'revise' fuel charge when it deems fit and that is SIA. People complaint, but they still book themselves on SIA. Pension: if SIA goes lower, it will not be because rising fuel but Air China's messing around with the deal btw SIA and China Eastern Airlines (as mentioned by shplayer). U been following the development? No ? |

This is becoz SIA charges higher fuel & "Osama" surcharges to its passengers. I paid S$240 per person on fuel and "Osama" surcharges to go to Seoul last June. And, SIA staff can't even answer how this S$240 is broken down. So, SIA could be making money from these surcharges. |

Pension, Totally agree with you that fuel cost is always a concern for SIA. However, if you look at the HY08 results (latest financials), Co. is managing this problem well. http://info.sgx.com/webcoranncatth.nsf/VwAttachments/Att_E2A26A793BDD24C34825738500330245/$file/SGXAnn2QFY0708.pdf?openelement Revenue increased by approx 8% but fuel cost actually DECREASED by about 5.7%. |

Pension, From info I can find, each A380 costs about USD300m......incl engines and spares. I figure SIA would not only have broken even financially, but was profitable, from the second round trip to Sydney.....as you are aware, the revenue for the first round trip to Sydney were donated to charity. The current depression in SIA stock price is probably due to mkt concern whether or not the China Eastern deal will go through. If it does, it will present SIA with more opportunities. If it dosen't, it will not adversely affect SIA's outlook. |

There is this beyond first class seat....like a little suite. More like a lifestyle for the rich and famous and who's who, yet not rich enough to own their own jet. Definitely not for the average S'porean or avg travellers..... |

HI Eastonboy, What I heard was that SIA was asked to be the launch customer as at that time many airlines were waiting to see who is brave enough to place order so airbus approach SIA striking a good deal i suppose and SIA being an industry leader speaks of confidence, as such orders naturally picked up. |
