sporeguy Has ur friend got his PR to stay here? Yes Perth is quiet and less shopping.But in terms of nightclubs and drinking hole(pub) it has more than spore,according to stats. My opinion is this,cos spore is small size,ppl tend to gather at one spot,say at parkway parade,so make it look exciting.Whereas here the country is so big,the ppl are so so spread out. Ppl cramp up for fishing spot in spore,here u see anglers have so much space.Just for comparison. anyway just my tots. |

Geojam, My friend's son and daughter are studying in Perth. My friend is around 55, plans to retired at 62 and then hope to migrate to Perth. But both his children do not like to stay in Perth. They prefer Spore as Perth is too quiet for them and most of their friends are in Spore. |

I-tan888,i lived in perth since 1987.Long time yeah? In reply to sporegal and I-tan888,yes i worked here from 1989 to year 2000.11 years and choose to retire in that year. During my working career there,i find it is no different to working in spore.Only thing is that the girls under my care in spore are more respectful whereas the white girls are more vocal.Many then interpret it as racial discrimination cos they speak out or whingers as we call them. the bottom line is,have to re adjust our style of living to be more "aggressive" and use alot.alot ,alot of vulgar words.whereas in spore we are most civilised(cannot think of a better word) or respectful,like call ppl uncle,or auntie. here they call u by first names.even u are the boss. well so much for now. Are u 2 planning to migrate here? I think spore need 2 of u more.Besides cost of living here is very,very high and i actually think of staying say 6 minths in spore and 6 minths here.spore is much cheaper. everytime when i am in spore i spend like "king" cos A$1 equal S$1.2? gah...one day gone at work and so many posts. o_0 ....ok, take this one by one...in no particular order ah....*pls don't fight* godpa, pls don't get so angry over little things....this is a forum after all, and sometimes, our words run faster than our minds.... i know i've made that fatal error firsthand before too. hehe. But really, remember that our aim at end of day is to learn and hence to profit. And we're doing that, aren't we? ;) everything else should come second. so ppl, let's just leave aside the minor disputes and focus on the profits. Hi geojam, I've been to Sydney, Perth and Gold Coast in Australia. Generally, I find the people there to be quite nice and encountered no racial discrimination at all. I am actually quite impressed and like the culture and lifestyle there. However, I heard of some bad stories there from people who have worked or lived there. Care to share your experience? |

Actually, the Malaysia My Second Home scheme is not really a PR. You and your spouse, children, if applicable, are given Visas (renewable 10 yearly) to stay in Malaysia. Of course, if your conduct is good, and in the long run, your chances of getting a PR is there, but still not guaranteed. For starters, you'll need to apply for approval. There are some Malaysian agencies in KL specialising in this formality. Once approved (about 3 months to process, if you can get it), you'll need to deposit RM300k for 1 year in a local bank. After the first year, you are allowed to withdraw RM240k for personal use, eg: buy house (no limit), car (1 car tax free), etc. But you are not allowed to conduct any business in Malaysia. At any time, there must be at least RM60k left in the bank. But in Johor, foreigners can only buy houses above RM250k. In Malacca, this figure is lower. Search GOOGLE for Malaysia My Second Home and you'll have tons of information. |

Sporean applying for Malaysia PR seem very difficult. l_tan888 if you succeed please tell me how? Izit muz invest say 1 million ringgit then they will issue you a PR certificate? I also think retire in Malaysia better. Afterall my wife a Malaysian but she very easy can get Spore PR. Why vice versa so hard for me leh? Izit becuz I got do NS in Spore and due to security reason, Msia dun wan issue PR to Sporean? |

Hi geojam, Mind if I ask how long have you been staying in Australia? Which city in Australia are you residing? How's the community there? In Australia, I've only been to Perth, Brisbane and the Gold Coast with my wife for short holidays previously. Singapore is too expensive for retirement. I'm in my mid 40s and in a semi-retirement status. Afterall, with no work is also boring as we don't have any children ourselves. Actually, I'm thinking of applying for the Malaysia My Second Home Visa. In this way, I intend to reside in either JB or Malacca and can still commute conveniently to Singapore when needed. For survival, most likely, I'll just collect some rental income from my existing homes in Singapore. Hopefully, some of the stock dividends would also supplement, but then, these fluctuate annually, pending their business prosperity. |

Thanks bunbun for your compliment. Like I'd said, I've still got a lot to learn as well. Frankly, after my severe loss (on paper), I didn't even want to see my portfolio again until Q4 of 2006. Don't forget, there was also another selldown around end of May 2006. We'll take 1 step at a time and see what the future holds in the coming months. I would also like to thank Elf for the many advices she contributes, not only on Allgreen, but also on the many other threads in SJ. |

godpa, definitely correct decision to force you to adopt me as your god-daughter. hahahaha. u may be the one regretting to adopt me. kekeke. correct decision too, to 'force' elf to adopt me as pet; force-adopt (similar concept as force-sell! hahaha) shplayer as da-gerger; giant as my er giant (like Hagrid in Harry Potter); fairygal as our fairy (godma); etc etc. hmmm.... who else are left out? ipunter, i hope i am not mis-interpreting your comments. but i am sure my godpa did not take your comments @ face value too. as we are all aware, novices and experts alike visit SJ, thus, we shouldn't post sweeping comments, or comments without back-up data as support. we may not wish to help others in making $, but i'm sure none of us would want to cause others to lose $ by taking sweeping comments seriously. godpa-pa, u warm my heart. i keep your advice at heart, will look into playing less contra *big smile* |
