SPH Q2 net profit rises 30% 13Apr2010 BT Singapore Press Holdings has posted a second quarter net profit of $113.3 million, a 30 per cent increase from $87 million in the same period a year ago. Relax man! The fact is...not only cs, many other analysts/brokers have upgraded this one to B/O recently with target of >$4 base on its improve fundamental, just look at its 1Q10 result...profit almost double as compared to previous yr. I believe its coming 2Q10 result will be good. Vested here. | ||

0155 GMT [Dow Jones] Singapore Press Holdings (T39.SG), Wilmar (F34.SG) two of Asia's most undervalued consumer stocks, says Credit Suisse. Notes SPH trades at 33% discount to region on house's P/B vs ROE valuation model, despite media group being regarded as key beneficiary of pick-up in private consumption in Singapore; "demand for newspaper ads has been improving much faster than expected and further consensus EPS upgrades for the stock is highly likely." Says Wilmar also among undervalued names in Asia's consumer sector, but adds share price fairly valued at current levels. Notes Genting Singapore (G13.SG) one of region's most expensive consumer stocks, trading at 159% premium on P/B vs ROE basis, but flags risks for gaming group; "we expect the opening of Marina Bay Sands scheduled later this month to adversely impact visitation numbers for Genting." That's right! It is already proven that so far, this is the best way to attract/get to the consumers. Therefore, u see more and more businesses joining in to advertise in papers...guardian, watsons, supermarket chains....etc. I mean, who care to look for the advertisement when going online other than if you're searching for a specific product/services. Oops, going up again!! | ||

my indicators for this counter is the Saturday's newspaper, the thicker the classified ads the better the share price, this is a proxy to the sg economy, newsprint cost would have to be taken into consideration, esp with the recent karang guni man getting paid more? paper price likely to rise. DYODD. | ||
