When the market is down Many doomsayers will be around They will talk about the lowdown - The bear will beat the bull in the showdown Predict the markets will meltdown All stock prices will comedown Rumour that broking firms will clampdown Profits of companies will slowdown The world economy will breakdown Protectionism will be the talk-of-the-town People spending will be cutdown Bullish talks will get the thumbs-down Now, how do all these sound? Sound rather familiar, right Now?
No doomsayers will be around As they know they will sound unsound These same people will talk about boomtown The bull will beat the bear hands down Predict the market will break new ground All stock prices will not comedown Even penny stocks will go up by leaps and bounds Where buying opportunities are easily found Rumour of mergers and acquisitions are around Companies will give bonuses and dividends abound Making monies is like picking them from the ground Surely this second stanza will be a more welcome sound Want to hear more - please stay around at this SJ ground |

Skeletons falling out of european bank's cupboards. Bank Paribas(largest french bank) has frozen 3 funds related to subprime mortgages. Last week it said that it's exposure was negligible but now it is 800 million euros. Sure hope that asian financial centres have no skeletons in their cupboards. |

The housing woes and credit crunch have not been addresed by the fed.What did you expect them to do-create another bubble of what? Bear Stearns sub prime hedge funds filed for bankruptcy in Cayman islands making it difficult for investors to sue them-10th largest bank in USA- behaving like crooks. The dow rose only in the last hour of trading after losing all it's early gains last night-some kind of manipulation by the price protection team? Cisco cannot save the housing market which are highly leveraged in most developed countries -it only gave an excuse to bulls to improve sentiment. The Aroon indicators world wide are negative except for China and India. 10 years ago the bear market started in south east asia in July 1997.It was not too late to sell in early august. The years ending in 07 give negative returns(victor niederhoffer in practical speculation) -especially 1987 and 1997. History may not repeat itself but it often rhymes I think this rally is a B wave and the bear market has already started. If a recssion begins protectionist measures will start-China threatening to sell USA bonds if trade barriers against chinese goods are passed in congress. |

I feel today good market are coupled by the following: - major drop for the past 2 weeks giving excellence low pricing for most of blue chip stocks, good news from Fed on maintain interest rate and the usual NDP rally. Was having good feeling today will be a good day, but did not expect to have such strong buy. Anyway, did make some kopi $$ and offload. Effects from subprime still linger What do the rest think? |

Sub prime loan crises may affect some Chinese banksBy Ding Qi (chinadaily.com.cn) Updated: 2007-08-08 14:39 The latest US sub prime loan crises didn't render Chinese banks safe. A US report said Chinese financial institutions had bought US$107.5 billion worth of US mortgage securities by the end of June last year, accounting for 47.6 percent of similar investments amongst Asian countries. after the last two weeks sell down, one can get some good stocks at more than 50% discount...really good bargain for those with good holding power...market is still uncertain but based on fundamental of the companies and singapore economy, the mid term uptrend is still intact though short term is uncertain...but still do not contra as time is not at your side...good luck :) |
