Some of the China shares have gone down to attractive valuations and it is a sharp disparity in valuation compared to those in Hong Kong and China local market. By 2020, China could replace Japan as the second largest eocnomy in the world. In 50 years time, China's GDP could be 5 times that of Japan. |

No worries alligator.. de forum is for sharing.. you accurately pointed out.. except tat i didn't reserve 10% for TA learning.. all falls into investment.. but the gambling instinct inside me just like to pay counters and contra off after T+3.. win or loss.. is de kick tat i like.. Cheers |

huatah, your post reminds me on what I read once, some investors did like what you do, HOLD long time. But cannot help being a gambler once in a while. So what they did is to park their 'investment money' allocated to various areas as they felt confortable. then allocate 10% of their total holding, use this 10% to speculate and gambler, for the fun, for TA learning, .because they can take the loss for this 10% relatively.. may be you are close to becoming this type, just my guess... no offence..thought this SJ is for sharing experience |

guess i falls in between.... a long term investors who oni hold onto counters tat i really noe.. thru networks, thru FA, and thru research. a contra player who really gamble on counters based on feelings... sti/DJ movements. Cant help it... gambler is gambler.. no money still go ahead and play contra.. heehee.. |

Hi Mani, Those who bought fundamentally good stocks with long term potential in 2006 and held until now don't need to worry that much and they have reaped good gains despite 2 severe market corrections in March and July:). However I admit doing a little bit of buying and selling with these long term potential stocks would improve the gains even more:) |

On the other hand, holding a stock for say one year without doing anything can result in the stock's value going to half-price or worst within the year, in which case one has to live through the uncertainty. Thus, 'trading' is only a necessary compromise in an attempt to avoid the real misery of uncertainty, if not anything else... It must be noted that the operational term here is uncertainty. One should ask oneself "will my stock rise tomorrow? And if it does, then by how much will it rise? "... But realistically, no one knows for sure... since it may fall too...

There is so much talk about subprime problems but some things will not change. Oil related companies will continue to do well. Companies exposed to investment themes in infrastuctre in emerging economies, commodities and consumer goods for huge China market, will continue to do well. Emerging economies and Middle East countries because of the high oil prices are awash with cash. |
