STI to cross 3000 boosted by long-term investors

There are no secrets to picking value shares.The key is abilility to hold long term as opposed to short term or trading in shares. Go for companies with track record of ability to pay regular and consitent dividends. Rule of thumb is to buy counters with PE of 12 or less.Price to Book Value of no more than 3. Thus companies like SIA,SPC,Keppel corp,UOB and DBS to name a few will fall in this category. Just my opinion and for sharing.

eltan1, reading helps. research reports, news, forums, books. finally it depends on your own analysis. i dun think there is anyone that will reveal his trading secrets willingly at no cost. there is always a hidden agenda. |

seeing minimal movement on many counters...the range very small and not moving much (trading volume is quite a bore at the moment...)

this is a normal stage where uncertainties and market trying to find its way. same for investors. picking value shares are the best bets. look at the investment funds, they like to stress buy in when there is a dip, as investors we can do that too to average our costs. however, no one knows where the bottom is. in anycase, i am an optimistic and have met lots of down period in markets like many others. at least 80% always come up... | ||||||||

Gut feel, as DJ up slightly of 46.49 last nite, seems like there is no adversed news propagated on announcements on coming Tue, Thu and Fri. But need to trade cautiously, that is still the hit-n-run strategy, paper said today. But some of the good and cost China counters as recommended by analyst last few days, you may consider. Analyst said the US announcements may contribute good advantage on their earning, thats what were the comments I observed in BT. Cheers. |

Trading volumes still relatively low. Support levels will be easy to breach.

The release of China QDII may help China Stock at STI to move upwards, to gain ground. This morning STI was moving up agin but staying below 20. At 1000am HSI and SHI didn't help to push STI. Hence, STI may stay along the gained line leow. Cheers. | ||||||||
