With so many big names and well established networks, y nobody can see Si2i corporate vision? Summary 2009: paid 60 million Singapore dollars to purchase MediaRing 2010:  Acquired Malaysia CSL (group of companies which engage in the production and sale of mobile phones, mobile devices, net-book and notebook businesses in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia, 21 branches throughout Malaysia and a sales network of more than 2600 shops) 2010: Acquired Thailand WellcoM Mobile (2nd largest domestic player and 4th largest overall, extensive sales network - 62 WellcoM partners (W-Partners), 3,079 dealers of W-Partners, 37 Well Care shops for customer care) 2011: Acquired Indonesia Nexian (leading mobile handset brands in Indonesia) 2011: Taiwanese chip-maker Mediatek partnered Modi's value-added service arm Spice Digital and purchased a 10% stake for $20 million. (mediatek provides highest quality range of telco services i.e. mobile communications, digital home, information technology services, wireless and broadband connectivity to top end customers like google, lenovo, telcomsel, and other android applications related services) 2012: Strategic partnership with Huawei for S Huawei brand in the India market 2012: Strategic partnership with Google for Android handsets The company has tied up with Airtel for Delhi and Mumbai circles for free 3G data plans, in addition to Aircel Bangalore and Hyderabad, and Tata Docomo for Jaipur region. 2013: Spice Global IPO? In spore or London or HK? (they have been taking about it since few years back) Targeting Mobile Internet Market Spice is in the process of consolidating its business. In Mumbai, it has already made steps by merging Spice Televentures and Spice Mobiles. It is in the process of consolidating Spice i2i nation by nation. Spice group acquired the Indonesian company Affinity, a mobile handset producer and distributor early last year for $175 million. Now the Spice group is also targeting the growing mobile Internet market. Expansion in this area will be done under the Spice brand itself as against marketing mobile handsets under the local brand names. Till now the penetration of Internet in the i2i markets is low, these countries internet economy is set to explode with growth (refer to the older posts). Spice Wants To Become Apple of Asian Continent Spice group was planning last year to list Spice Global, the holding company, in the stock exchanges in London, Hong Kong or a US bourse. B.K. Modi is the head of Assocham, a group of industrialists in India. Spice group is a $1.4 billion entity. The group sells 1.5 – 2 million mobile phones every month. Its retail and value added services arm is Spice Mobility. This company has also planned to be listed in the bourses. Spice Mobility is negotiating with chipset producers in South-East Asia (ASEAN countries) who manufacture low cost products with high processing capacities. Spice group wants to emulate Apple and wants to become Apple of the Asian continent. Instead of Apple’s expensive models like iPad and iPhones, the Spice group visualises offering different technological products at low cost to woo the customers. At a later stage, the Spice group has plans to come out with smartphones and tablets with varied applications. |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spice_i2i_Limited Spice i2i Limited (SGX: M09) is a Singapore-listed company that provides Voice, Data and Computing services with a leading edge in VoIP telephony service. Since 2004, the company has delivered over five billion voice minutes[citation needed] through a range of voice services to carriers, enterprises, service providers and consumers worldwide. Following the acquisitions of an Internet Service Provider and an IT infrastructure company in 2006 and 2007 respectively, Spice i2i evolved to become a full fledged IT communications solutions provider[citation needed]. The strategic acquisitions expanded Spice i2i's service offerings to include a utility computing service, IT infrastructure hosting and outsourcing, broadband access, managed network and other network based services.
Over the years, Spice i2i has grown from its initial ‘dot.com’ business to become Asia’s leading VoIP telephony service provider offering voice services to a wide ranging of customers. The strategic move led to Spice i2i’s services reaching out from Asia to the Middle East, Africa and Latin America in a span of three years.[citation needed] In 2006, Spice i2i took its first step towards transforming itself with the strategic acquisition of NetPlus, an Internet Service Provider[citation needed]. The move enabled Spice i2i to include data capability in its service offering.

Spice launches Stellar series of Android smartphones
Press Trust of India, June 08, 2012

" The 'Stellar' range offers security as the unique proposition, promising protection against virus and data loss or theft on these Android devices. For this, the company has partnered with NQ Mobile, a leading mobile security provider," SMobility Global Head (Devices) Kunal Ahooja told reporters here.
SMobility has launched Spice Stellar, Spice Stellar Craze and Spice Stellar Horizon. While Spice Steller is already available across the country, the other two would be launched soon. The devices are priced at Rs 9,999, Rs 6,499 and Rs 11,999, respectively.
The smartphone category, which has traditionally been dominated by players like Samsung, Apple and Sony, is witnessing a lot of action lately as domestic companies like Micromax and S Mobility launch their devices to take on these multinational giants. " We are focussing on evolving from a feature phone brand to a smartphone company. It will take us 2-3 years in the segment to make a mark as it will take time to assure people that our devices are as packed with capabilities as that from any other vendors," Ahooja said.
Smartphones are phones running on operating systems like Google's Android, Microsoft Windows and Apple's iOS among others.
The company had launched Android-based smartphones last year. This year, it plans to launch eight new devices under 'Stellar' as well as double its smartphones sales in the next couple of quarters.
He added that the company is eyeing sales of seven million handsets, including smartphones, this year in India from six million last year.
A company official said SMobility sells about 600,000 handsets in India a month, of which 30,000 are smartphones. SMobility aims to double its smartphone sales to 60,000 a month over the next two quarters, he added.
According to a study by Research and Markets, smartphones are expected to account for about 25 per cent (with 73.4 million units) of the total Indian mobile phone market by 2015. It estimated that about 11.2 million smartphones were shipped to India in 2011.
The research firm said sales of smartphones in India will grow at 60 per cent annually on average till 2015, while overall mobile handset sales will grow at about 13 per cent per year.
India is the second largest mobile handset market in the world, after China, and is estimated to have grown by 15 per cent to touch USD 6.75 billion in revenues in 2010-11 from USD 5.88 billion a year back.
