Market report from Bloomberg Singapore Stocks: China Fishery, DBS, Fraser & Neave, Olam c.2009 Bloomberg News By Jonathan Burgos Feb. 16 (Bloomberg) – Singapore’s Straits Times Index fell 22.33 points, or 1.3 percent, to 1,683.31 at the close. That is the gauge’s lowest level since Feb. 9. All but three of the measure’s components declined. The following companies were among the most active in the market today. Stock symbols are in parenthesis after company names. China Fishery Group Ltd. (CFG SP), a deep-sea fishing company, jumped 10 percent to 66 cents after saying 2008 net income rose 6.5 percent to $94.3 million, boosted by contributions from businesses bought last year. DBS Group Holdings Ltd. (DBS SP), Southeast Asia’s biggest bank, fell 2.3 percent to S$8.20 after HSBC Holdings Plc downgraded the rating on the stock following the Feb. 13 company report that fourth-quarter net income fell 40 percent. HSBC cut its rating to “underweight” from “neutral,” saying “earnings pressure is still rising.” Morgan Stanley reduced its target price for DBS shares to S$7.5 from S$8.62. Europtronic Group Ltd. (ERT SP), a Singapore-based company that sells components to manufacturers of a range of electronics products, slumped 20 percent to 2 cents after saying it will post a loss for the year ended Dec. 31 as the global economic downturn crimped electronics demand. Details of its 2008 earnings will be released later this month Fraser & Neave Ltd. (FNN SP), Singapore’s biggest beverage maker, fell 4.1 percent to S$2.78 after saying profit in the first quarter ended Dec. 31 fell 18 percent to S$89 million because of lower sales and a one-time charge on an overseas development. Its unit Asia Pacific Breweries Ltd. (APB SP), the maker of Tiger Beer, gained 1 percent to S$10 after saying profit rose 13 percent on increased demand and higher selling prices. Olam International Ltd. (OLAM SP), an agricultural commodities supplier, fell 5.8 percent to S$1.3 after offering holders of $176.4 million of convertible bonds due in 2013 an option to exchange them for replacement bonds at 78 percent of the principal. The company made the offer to investors who didn’t accept the offer first made in December. New Lakeside Holdings Ltd. (NLH SP), a China-based producer of apple juice concentrate, plunged 46 percent to 3.5 cents after posting a loss of about 51 million yuan in the first half ended Dec. 31, compared with a profit of 10 million yuan a year earlier, as global demand slumped. Portek International Ltd. (PORT SP), a port operator and supplier of cargo-handling equipment, rose 3.1 percent to 16.5 cents after posting net income of S$3.7 million in the first half ended Dec. 31, compared with a loss of S$1.5 million, on increased revenue. Singapore Airlines Ltd. (SIA SP), the world’s biggest airline by market value, slipped 1.5 percent to S$10.44 after saying it will cut capacity by 11 percent starting April this year as travel demand slows. Those believe in it...buy and hoh lohh.....and average down. Both IR operator is asking for delay in their opening..Ya ?. Money problem, high construction cost, Bank anyhow credit lending problem..all due to Sub-prime and global recession and even if opening is due..wrong time as well. U believe in it..U buy /sell and do not hold the script. Be prepare for more volatile mkts at this point in times.

Let's say... what if the market slide is still ongoing (remember, it takes time, slowly seeps in), then an an 'investment strategy' will not work too, since a lot of money can still be lost by simply holding on (or buying now and hold). Thus, whichever 'strategy' is used, it is only a bet at best... Therefore, in this regard, it is best to adopt a 'strategic betting mentality'... Then one would not lose much in the end....  |

From today onwards I change my investment strategy........ I start investing and not trading. ( Since, no longer substantial volatility and lesser and lesser traded volume, also market price seems under consolidating phase ).
