BBs will keep on squeezing the short sellers and contra players until they are so scared they dun dare touch this counter anymore. Once those speculative players opt out and play other counters, genuine investors come in and the price will rise slowly bit by bit. But if those speculative players come in wrech havoc again, the BB will be watching. This counter is heavily under the close guard of BBs. So the potential for this counter should rise in future but at a slow pace due to those nasties wanna play punk on this counter earn quick bucks :) |

Interesting reading for City Spring supporters: The STI has dived 8.3% since 23 February 2007, hurting many investors taking a long position in major blue chip counters. On the contrary, newly listed CitySpring has held steady through the carnage and fell only 0.7% over the same period. CitySpring closed at $1.49 yesterday, climbing 67.4% compared to its listing price in early February 2007, and $0.09 short of its $1.58 high on 13 February 2007. Over the past week, several investors have taken the opportunity to increase their long positions in CitySpring. The following announcements were extracted from the SGX:
Purchase: FMR Corp & Fidelity International: Sold 0.6 mn shares, then bought 0.6 mn shares later, ending with a shareholding interest from of 5.1%. The Capital Group Companies: Bought a total of 7.2 mn shares, increasing shareholding interest from 4.4% to 6.0%. UOB Asset Management: Bought 5.2 mn shares and sold 2.2 mn shares, increasing shareholding interest from 5.0% to 5.7%. |

There are married deals by foreign fund house and bank investment arm increasing stake so this counter will not fall down flat. What I worry is the price creep up slowly. Anyway I hold long term so it is ok with me. IndoFood launch ard same time as CitySpring and see it's price now?!?! Unbelievable! :O |

CitySpring may spring up. Notice v.strong support from BBs as well as from retailers and is not effected by the down mkt volatilities.

The Capital Group (an American Fund, I believe), has bought a 5.23 % stake in City Spring, other than UOB Asset Mgmt. This could account for the fact why City Spring is so resilient during the mkt crash, the last 2 days. The Capital Group, has a good track record of buying defensive stocks, like the reits, at an early stage. Eg, I believe that they started buying into Suntec in Dec 05, or Jan 06, when Suntec was only trading at 1.05 - 1.10 range, and they have probably held it until now. Usually, like minded funds like Capital group, would also go in, if they find the stock to be good, eg, Macquarie, Morgan Stanley, UBS Warburg, etc. If it happens (It is not happening yet), then it will augur well for the stock. We should also keep a look out for 'initiation of coverage' in order the stock to gain more following. From a technical perspective, the stock is holding very well, under present trying circumstances, but if it breaks below the recent low of 1.46-1.47, Then all bets are off, although I view this as quite unlikely. (However, never say never) |

i seen my friends n colleagues got burnt before in playing contra. for contra, u must monitor everyday....every hr , it can be very distracting to work. if you somehow can't sit in front of the pc that day, you need a friend or your agent to backup to monitor for u. when shares move down, your heart start humping real hard, n you will start to wonder when to cut loss or should i wait. that time (year 2005) i contra up to $4k profit within a month and i thought life is great as a contratian. i should have stop, but greed overtake me. that is why ppl always say in shares trading, dont let fear n greed overtake you. till the shares fell on that day, i realise how wrong i am. try go pick some books learn technical analysis, for me,i decide to go for the technical analysis class on 10th march at chartnexus (not sure how good, will give a try). |

easytrader: if making monies is all you want then contra is still not good enuff. Best is to go for CFD aka Contracts For Difference where you play with the brokerage house on the results of the stock price. Refer to poems for the rules of play. Idea is you do not get the shares so no CDP holdings etc etc. Basically you play with the result of the price goes up or down at the end of a determined time period of say 30 days. You can extend of cuz but once in place you need pay some fees to the brokerage house for holding the contracts. I heard from some forumers in here even non-trading days the fees is still charged. |

the price has been moving between 1.51 to 1.52,1.53 ..at most to 1.56. this is more like a middle to long term type of shares, not suitable for contra (in my opinion).. normally ppl do contra on penny stocks or warrants. the way they play contras is they buy 50lots or 100lots of e.g. a ABC stock of e.g 0.15cents, when it goes up by 0.05c, they sell off immediately (think u try this method before?). But i kenna burnt in warrants 2 yrs back when playing contras, so once bitten, twice shy. I don't touch warrants now, so i don't play contras now. any gurus may share opinions too? |

Not too sure this is a good piece of news. Hyflux reported profits mentioned that a pipeline of china projects when matured will inject into CitySpring. Somewhere else in the papers, our gas mkt getting is already very competitive and with mkt liberalisation, things will get more competitive..in ref to Tuas Power article. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
