Market report

   May 13 (Bloomberg) – The Straits Times Index lost 0.1 percent to 2,176.10 at 9:59 a.m. local time. Fourteen stocks rose while 11 declined of the gauge’s 30 members.
    The following companies were among the most active in the stock market today. Stock symbols are in parentheses after company names.
    Neptune Orient Lines Ltd. (NOL SP), Southeast Asia’s largest container carrier, sank 2.8 percent to S$1.40. The company said it posted a net loss of $244.6 million in the first-quarter, compared with a
net income of $120.7 million in the year-ago
period, as the global recession pummeled trade and freight rates. Deutsche Bank AG said it downgraded its rating to “sell” from “hold” as the outlook for Neptune Orient continues to be “extremely
challenging.”
    Noble Group Ltd. (NOBL SP), the Hong Kong-based commodity supplier, gained 1.3 percent to S$1.53. The company is seeking to overturn a ruling by an Australian regulator that a merger proposal
between Gloucester Coal Ltd. and Whitehaven Coal Ltd.
doesn’t require shareholder approval, Whitehaven said in a statement. Noble holds a 22 percent stake in Gloucester and is proposing to buy the rest of Gloucester for A$6 a share if it drops a merger
agreement with Whitehaven.
    Rotary Engineering Ltd. (RTRY SP), a Singapore-based engineering and construction company, jumped 11 percent to 61.5 Singapore cents. The company said it won new contracts worth S$15.2 million
so far this year, bringing its order book to S$360.2
million. The company said first-quarter net profit slumped 57 percent to S$4.3 million ($3 million) after setting aside S$6.1 million as provisions for debts.
    Sembcorp Industries Ltd. (SCI SP), the owner of the world’s second-largest oil-rig maker, gained 1.9 percent to S$3.15. The company said its first-quarter profit rose 9 to S$133.6 million ($92 million),
boosted by higher returns from its marine
engineering business. CIMB-GK Research said it raised its share- price target to S$3.72 from S$3.12 and maintained its “outperform” rating on Sembcorp Industries.
    Tiong Woon Corp Holdings Ltd. (TWC SP), a heavy-crane leasing company, surged 15 percent to 42 Singapore cents, poised for its highest since Aug. 1. Credit Suisse Group AG raised its share-price
estimate to 45 Singapore cents from 25 Singapore cents
and maintained its “neutral” rating on the stock.
    UOL Group Ltd. (UOL SP), Singapore’s fourth largest developer by assets, advanced 5.7 percent to S$2.80. The company said its profit surged to S$331.8 million ($227.5 million) in the first quarter
from S$42.9 million a year ago, bolstered by a
S$277.7 million exceptional gain.
    Wilmar International Ltd. (WIL SP), the world’s biggest palm oil trader, gained 5.1 percent to S$4.37. The company said its profit in the first-quarter climbed 11 percent to $380 million as margin
improvements helped offset a 31 percent slump in
sales. The company said it is planning to list shares in its China subsidiary either in Shanghai or Hong Kong.

juz need to do simple registration and you can view live index of sti, hangseng, nikkei, europe - UK, germany, france, dow + futures, nasnaq + futures, S&P + futures, gold, oil, silver.

so far this is my favourite site to view the indices. hangseng and nikkei live, no delay.. hope you will like it.. :)
