The Flight to Safety Continues

It seems that investors are beginning to see the stock market as a midway carnival game with the odds stacked against them. For the seventh straight quarter money flowed out of stock mutual funds and into bond mutual funds.

According to Morningstar, $81.2 billion went into bond funds during the second quarter, compared to only $16.4 billion into stock funds. This is the highest quarterly inflow into bond funds in at least 11 years.

The reason why is evident: the vaporization of retirement accounts when the market self-destructed last fall. Investors are fleeing to the safety of bond funds, which offer stability and at least a certain level of predictability.

 Thanks so much for your reply! I think i got what you mean.... So low volume on a price surge means it could be a reversal in down trend which means shortist has to be careful. but can be a good indication IF we want to go long? This is the meaning right? And vice versa as what you mentioned below. thanks alot!

When the stock comes to the above average volume in situation that trend is already running. After several strong moves you see that last day is accompanied by strong volume. This is warning sign. When I am in trade and see such situation on my chart, I like to do these 2 steps: sell or cover part of my shares into strength   move my stop closer Strong volume after several trend days means that big players are trying to exit their positions to the hands of latecomers.
