STI to cross 3000 boosted by long-term investors

STI so far still looks very strong despite profit-taking as at this point in time, today's low still did not break below yesterday's low but instead recover from the low to form a long lower shadow.

DJ MARKET TALK: STI Down 1.6% On China Mkt Plunge; 2500 Support

0651 GMT [Dow Jones] Singapore shares extend losses, taking lead from sharp outbreak of profit-taking in China market after news reports suggesting some China banks may cool off lending, with lower U.S. pre-market futures (DJIA futures down 75 points) also dampening sentiment; STI down 1.6% at 2,582.13 vs down only 0.2% before midday break with next support tipped near 10-day moving average at 2,500. "I think we are seeing a bit of panic selling on the China market drop; everyone is taking that as the cue to rush for the exits as a sudden 7% fall (for Shanghai Composite index) doesn't look like a normal correction and it could be the first sign that the market mood is changing," says trader at local brokerage. S-chips taking a beating with FTSE ST China index down 2.9%. Commodity plays continue to lead blue chip falls with Noble (N21.SG) down 4.4% at S$1.97; financial names also weighing with SGX (S68.SG) down 4.4% at S$8.39, UOB (U11.SG) down 3.3% at S$16.80. Broad market volume decent; losers now outnumber gainers roughly 3 to 1. (KIG)

You maybe right, now it is moving up,

talking abt shorting for today, unless one can sell at today high and buy back now,

for example SAR. today hi is 1.98 and nw 1.90. lo is 1.88.

so if a bull eye shortist at sell 1.98 and buy at 1.88. he make 5%., maybe it is still possible, my apology shortist.

thank for shorting on Ah Heng, and several other.

Temasek says portfolio falls by $40 billion end-March '09

SINGAPORE - Singapore state investor Temasek said on Wednesday its portfolio had fallen by $40 billion (US$27.80 billion) as of end-March 2009 from a year ago.

'In our Temasek Review last year, we reported an annual value-at-risk of almost $40 billion last March. This meant a 16 percent probability for our portfolio value to drop more than $40 billion by March this year. Indeed, it has turned out to be so, and more,' CEO Ho Ching said in a speech.

Temasek had $185 billion in assets as of end-March 2008, which fell to $127 billion as of November 2008. Ho did not give the exact portfolio level.

This was the first public comment by Ho after Temasek said last week that Charles 'Chip' Goodyear will not become CEO due to differences over strategy.

Ho said Temasek would continue to look at internal and external candidates for her replacement.

Funny, most of my counter down just ard 2% the most, how can shortist make money,unless they are very chun,

Buy on dip, no worry, this show people are happy collecting, those panic will regret later.What i am trying to say is the selling is well supported.

but tonite dow maybe down, and sti got hit again, so buy slowly.

yo...the drop of so deep at such a short period does not look like a correction to me. Better think twice if want to get in to long. I do not have a very good feeling about this drop.
