Mr ooooo... sorry for upsetting you with my punter's views... I can't help it coz I 'm after all a punter and naturally assume all are punters too... how silly of me to proclaim all are punters... okay okay... NOT all are punters... :) |

Ya... agree with you on that too... you have a solid and valid point there... But there's no really no 'belittling' as such... I am simply highlighting the risk factor in my own way... :) |

I frequent this site for leisure but your argument really bring me in to registere and to tell you that, each has his own trading style and no one is so accurate in stock market even those 'big' boys mentioned here! I will not comment further and wont waste my time here to comment again. Good luck? |

ipunter, I disagree with your argument that everyone are punter are like you. Many people including directors out there bought back their shares for many other reasons (that you wouldn't understand) than to speculate like what you think they are...you should not belittle those who patronise here as punters like you. Tell me hen you make your first dollar in stock market! Mr OOO |

And for this reason alone, it is justifiably reasonable to proclaim that all are punters. |

Furthermore... there no such thing as a stock being 'worth so much'. All stock prices are just people's beliefs...period. ... nothing more. |

Ya... after all the hard work ... you still risk the punt, calculated or not, coz the market can fall anytime... like today for instance... it's such a long weekend... with the news, things can develope pretty fast... anything can just happen...and it's still the same even if it's not a weekend. |

IC... its just semantics then... In my "book" of definitions, if you have analysed and done research, you are not a punter but a trader or investor who takes a calculated risk. I was referring to someone who sits in front of a jackpot machine slotting in coins hoping for a big payout. Cheers! |

Haha... that's where I must 'fiercely' disagree with you, Singaporegal... My position is that whether we have analysed and studied and researched and even prayed before we bought, it is still a 'punt' as far as the stock market is concerned. In my view, all are punters... hehe.. :) |

cr_kai... BTW, I consider myself a short term trader, not a punter. I trade based on fixed TA rules. I believe a "punter" is someone who goes into a stock based on rumours or pure instinct and does not rely on any self-analysis. I guess that's another difference between short term trading and punting. Hope this clarifies the misconception |

Dear iPunter, Like everyone else in this forum, we are sharing our views and opinions of the stock market using either TA or FA mentality. You have your own views of TA and I have mine. No one is right all of the time. This is the point of this forum... to encourage open minded sharing with other people. I believe in letting the forummers here make their own trading decisions and trading methods, be it TA, FA or a mix of both. I believe that each person has to find a method that suits his/her style and character. No method is perfect all the time. I don't believe my style of TA is superior to others or that TA is superior to FA. In fact, I have many friends who have made lots of money using FA. There is no right or wrong in trading. The main objective is to find a good method that works for you and that you can make money from. Have a happy new year. |

cr_kai, I'm not doing day trading at all. All I'm saying is that I buy into a stock when I see uptrend in a stock and the conditions are right. I will ditch the stock when things change. This could take place in the next day, or the next couple of weeks. I essentially take a pessismistic view when I hold any counter. This method has served me well and I will not change the way I trade because it has given me consistent results and has bailed me out of serious trouble numerous times. I don't see myself as an INVESTOR. I'm more of a TRADER. |

cr_kai... That's really the beauty (or ugliness? depending on your outlook) of life... All talk on TA is really to identify a good stock to put one's valuable money into after much painstaking analysis. I am only genuinely concerned about the many people who get bitten by the stock market because of picking up tips here ... and this is not a trival matter. |

hi singaporegal, you say you get in and out of a stock quickly? isn't that quite close to day trading which i'm doing without having the need for TA? so isn't that close to punting? how can someone be pessimistic when vested in a counter? your own analysis, be it TA or FA or whatever should have told you something good BEFORE you buy a counter right? TA should be for long term right? what did your TA tell you when you bought at $1.24? I believe it should have been quite bulish right? but you sold off at $1.26 when you see something which you didn't like in the chart. how long did that take? I bought at $1.25 because i had confidence in the counter. be it whether the price see-saws in 1 month, i'm still holding on because i'm INVESTING in this counter, not punting like what i'm doing for other counters. anyway, i'm not picking on you or anyone about the method which they use to buy a counter. but just that, buying a counter involves a whole lot of methods, read ups, analysis other than just using 1 method. just my 2 cents. cheers! :) |
