DJ MARKET TALK: Stk Picking Key For Singapore Mkt In '10 - CLSA 0203 GMT [Dow Jones] Investors in Singapore market will need to take a more selective approach this year after such a strong performance in 2009, says CLSA. Expects investor interest to be piqued by opening of new integrated resorts while corporate earnings recovery that began last year expected to continue into 2010; but says Singapore market already trading at nearly 1 standard deviation above 5-year average PE, so is "no longer inexpensive." Adds investors need to focus on companies whose earnings more identifiable or where there are structural drivers of earnings growth. Has 2010 STI target of 3,160. Remains Overweight on banks, transportation, consumer staples sectors. Conviction Buys include DBS (D05.SG), CapitaLand (C31.SG), Genting (G13.SG), Golden Agri (E5H.SG), Ezra (5DN.SG). DJ MARKET TALK: STI +0.7%; Market In Sweet Spot In 1Q10 - UBS 0135 GMT [Dow Jones] Singapore stocks firmer on positive lead from U.S. market. STI +0.7% at 2913.39, with all FTSE ST sub-indexes positive. Market breadth at six gainers for every decliner. Resistance for STI expected at 2929 (July 31, 2008 close). "The market is still in a sweet spot, at least in 1Q10, with strong demand growth, positive EPS revisions and benign overall policy conditions," says UBS. Overall market volume moderate, with penny stocks again dominating trade.
