On 10/June, Singapore shares end higher Thursday as China’s exports surged 48.5% in May from a year ago increasing the monthly trade surplus to $19.5 billion boosted the market sentiment.

STI ended 33.78 points (1.2%) higher at 2779.58 with low VOL of 938.3 million shares traded compared with 883.8 million shares Wednesday. In the broader market, gainers outnumbered losers 233 to 165. Today STI index rally based on very weak volume with only 59% of the stocks positive at the end of the session.

“There’s no catalyst to lead the market anywhere,” a trader at a local brokerage said.

Today there was news of Fortis Healthcare (532843.BY) launching counter offer   as much as $5.05 per share for Parkway Holdings (P27.SG) stake.

After market close

Tiger Airway reported that they have carried 5.2 Million passengers in 12 Months to May which was 52% improvement compared to a year earlier.

Technical Analysis on STI

Immediate Resistance of STI: 2780

Immediate Support of STI: 2740

MY sentiment on STI: Today rally is basically another stunt by “Big Boy”.

1)     Volume is low

2)     Only 59% of stocks are positive while 41% falls despite index increase by 1.2%

3)     Heavy weightage of STI Singtel rose 2.4% without any positive news.

Based on the above data, we concluded that BB mainly pushes up those “STI heavy weightage stocks” to make as though it is a solid rally but in fact it is nothing but a bluff.

CNNMoney.com - Europe's debt crisis. Companies still not hiring. The Gulf oil spill. These are uncertain times to say the least. But while you might think economists would be running for the hills and looking ahead to a so-called "double dip recession," that's not necessarily the case.

David Wyss, chief economist with Standard & Poor's, said that even though he thinks slower U.S. growth is practically a sure thing, the odds of a double-dip actually have shrunk to 20%, from 25% earlier this year.

Same goes for Derek Hoffman, founder and editor of The Wall Street Cheat Sheet, who also puts the odds of a double dip at 20%, when just a few months earlier he saw them at 50-50.
