This news was already reflexed in last night DOW closing. It's because of this news that why DOW close in the Red. I don't think there would be any fear tonight because everyone already knows.

Of course I was only clarifying. Nothing to be angry about. Having said that I find your posts rather cryptic and subject to different interpretations. Now what you have written here really makes me wonder whether I know what is charting and its purpose. Anyone wants to add in his comments?

There are some who lost in the world cup may think of recouping from the stock market since market is rather bullish these two days. And those who won, may want to try to double or quit their winning buying some stocks. This mostly the case when the market is bullish (on daily basis), many will want to get a share of it mah!! Today, STI crosses the SMA (30) and goes into the Bull territory. Normally, I would consider this as the 3rd Bull and the start of a Bull Run. However, the low volume is a concern to me, this make me think that this Bull would not last long. My guess is that after World Cup, STI may falls back into the Bear Market before rebounding into the next Bull Run. We can capitalize on this Mini-Bull, by accumulating some value stocks quickly and sell when we see the market turns from Bull to Bear. If this Bull does not turn to a Bear, but into a Full-blown Bull Run, that's even better for us. In either way, we are set to win. I'll start my Full Force Buying Spreed tomorrow. My only fear is within this World Cup, some negative news may come up and kill this Mini-Bull. If this happens, remember our 10% cut loss point. Good luck to all. |

I like the way you ask questions... that is an enlightened (not angry) way to to it... and that's very good... :) You see, a chart is nothing but a map of historical and the latest prices. On a chart one can only see what has happened till this moment in the chronology of the stock. But people have the wrong idea that charts can be used to predict the next move... This is utter nonsense... because that is not the purpose of a chart. and many people go even further and apply all sorts of mechanical principles of physics and arcane formulae in their attempt to predict the next move. The purpose of a chart is only to show the pattern of past price movements and thus past market action. Market trends happen by themselves and are unpredictable and are obvious only until after the event , but not before the trend has taken place...

Isn't the purpose of using charts is to help predict the trend although its not a sure thing? Or are you saying charting is a waste of time and money?
