Nanosolar is a company based in Palo Alto, California, which uses an innovative technique to produce a kind of "solar film". To make the film, Nanosolar prints CIGS (copper-indium-gallium-selenium) onto a thin polymer using machines that look like printing presses. There is no costly silicon involved in the process, and, ultimately, a solar cell from Nanosolar will cost about one-fifth to one-tenth the cost of a standard silicon solar panel. Nanosolar is only a few years old, but it has laid plans to take on multinational corporations, such as BP and Sharp, in the solar industry. The company recently announced that it now has the funding to get started on volume production of its photovoltaic technology. It plans to build a manufacturing facility in California that will eventually produce 430 megawatts of solar cells per year, making the company one of the largest solar producers in the world in the span of a few years. Nanosolar will also build a plant in Germany for taking the solar cells and fitting them into solar panels. Later, Nanosolar will produce plastic sheets coated with the particles to generate electricity on the rooftops of big box retailers. Nanosolar in usa is also starting to produce solar module using new technology which will produce solar module by printing them like newpaper in high volume,it will about us$1-2 per watt, USD100million fund was rise in its second funding from big boys in usa few month back, will be started production soon as factory site was selected few month back. |

Headline News: Rowsley gives more details on $2.7B takeover to calm investors. Said It CEO. This $300M profit attainable, esp if a further target of 500MW of capacity is reach by FY2009 as planned and not in FY08 or FY09. Well said Pension....i fully agree with your views. I understood from the BT writeup today that Perfect Field's 100MW plant is planned to be ready by october this year. A 100MW power plant will generate US$500million in revenue per year. This is based on industry average selling price for power which range from US$5m to US$6m per MW per year. Perfect Field and Rowsley plan to generate upto 500MW of solar power by 2009 which will generate US$2.5 billion of revenue a year. at a profit margin of around 15% to 35%, They can easily exceed profits of US$300MIL per year. Assuming, they make a margin of 25%, that equates to US$625 Million of profits a year......double that of the US$300m they are guaranteeing now. |

Perfect field cannot sell the share issued to them within 3 years, the share will be kept in escrow account and if they do not meet the target, the share will be reduce accordingly. If the ceo of perfect field dare to commit to put the share in escrow account to give you the assurance and Mr Lim dare to pump in 100 million to this company, I think there is something interesting of this company. I believe once the reverse take over is completed, every now and then there will be announcement of MOU and many other things and the share will climb up higher and higher after each announcement. |

Why dun you guy listen to the audio of the media briefing posted in rowsley website at Rowsley.com. The potential of the 2nd generation solar panel is enormous. If you can catch the pharse " demand exceed supply ", "China is in great demand for renew energy", government of various country is pushing renew energy, cost of production of morp comparable to crystal, the land cost is under defer payment by the china government, the patent right, the IP right for the equipment build by them to produce large solar cell panel etc, the Jilin government is using it and there are lot of MOU to be sign and many more. If you cannot catch those word, then try shorting the counter today. Mr Lim see the potential and that the reason he dare to put in the money to invest. I think our government will be very interest in the technology to support the renew energy. |

Rowsley said that Perfect Field didn't said it had firm orders worth US$500 - US$600 million during the briefing.

Perfect Field Investment has firm orders of at least US$500-US$600 million for the fiscal year ending June '08, the company said on Wednesday. Rowsley CEO Koh Kim Huat told reporters in Singapore that those orders would ensure that Perfect Field would be able to generate a profit of at least $300 million, which it has guaranteed under the terms of the takeover. Perfect Field, which produces solar cells, modules and panels, said earlier this month it would take over Rowsley to fund its expansion as demand for renewable energy products grows in China. As part of the deal, Rowsley will issue 18 billion new shares at $0.15 per share to owners of Perfect Field, representing 92 percent of the company's enlarged share capital, which will result in a reverse takeover of Rowsley. Singapore media have raised doubts about the company's business plan and several stock market dealers told Reuters they were sceptical about the company's profit outlook. Koh said Perfect Fields solar cells production capacity would reach 100 megawatt (MW) by Oct '07, priced at about US$5 to US$6 per watt. He said most of that production has already been purchased by the government of China's Jilin Province for various energy projects. "China is pushing very hard for renewable energy," Koh said, adding that Perfect Field has signed more agreements with the Chinese government, some of which could turn into firm orders this year. Perfect Field also clarified media reports about its contract with China's Beijing National Stadium, saying it would provide 1,000 kilowatt of solar energy. He said the stadium's total energy requirement stood at around 20,000 kilowatts. |

Apparently both Perfect Field and their competitor Suntech won the Beijing National stadium "the Nest" project. Perfect Field is supplying the solar panels that goes onto the roof of the Nest while Suntech supply the panels that is installed above the entrances/door ways. According to the earlier BT article, Perfect Field's solar panels using the amorphous silicon is upto 100times thinner than Suntech's polycrystalline silicon technology. This means it is cheaper to make (requiring less silicon to be deposited on the panel during manufacturing) and allowing it to be more flexible and lighter. Maybe that is why their product was chosen for the roof of the Nest which may be circular or odd shape in design..... i remember reading somewhere that if the solar panels are light and flexible enough, one day it may be possible to weave the thin solar films onto our clothing so as to power our MP3s etc while we are on the move..... :) |

The patent right itself can generate lot of money, very rarely can find a flexible solar panel. This company has very great potential, I think EDB will like the technology and BCA introduce the technology for green building.
