News reports have consistently mentioned that the modules will be fabricated overseas, and transported to Barrow Island in Western Australia for assembly. The modularisation method of construction has become fashionable in Australia due to high fabrication costs and capacity constraints there. In order to minimise environmental impact on Barrow Island, attempt to reduce area used & work undertaken directly on the island are favourable, hence fabrication yards overseas are at an advantage.... Among other bidders, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), Samsung Heavy Industries and J Ray McDermott's Indonesian subsidiary.... If indeed Ausclad & its partner are bidding for the main/major fabrication contract, then it is not a front runner. Hyundai is reported to be the front runner. If Ausclad & its partner are bidding for the subcon job like related jobs after assembly, then this news is neutral/not related. Pls do your own further reading & analysis. |

Pls take note that the project consists of a lot of contracts of various jobs. So even hyundai get one contract does no mean no more contracts for other company. |

The tender for the gorgon project will be in progress for the next few months. No news yet for Ausgroup. But it is likely for Ausgroup to secure the contract cos it had parner another Australia company for the project. Vest and best regard |

summary: from the news so far on Gorgon related, seems that local (Western Australia.WA) steel co/fabricators lose out to competitors in Asia. If indeed Ausclad has team up with local Australian co in tendering for fabrication, chances is slim. Unless the co is teaming up with another co in SEA/Asia, then you can remain hopeful. Then again, there are also other projects in the pipeline, also, Gorgon is a huge project with many phases which will take many years to shape. Pls read the news articles as well as the co website on its direction carefully & do your own analysis. |

Thanks for the WA case illustration. Not surprisingly, Chinese company like RH Energy may also get some contracts. These days, tender awards may also be influenced by girls.

As posted before & further related news. Many remains hopeful on Gorgon. As long as there is no confirmed news, trading remains speculative. Pls do your own further reading & analysis. |
