Whether declined stocks return quickly or slowly is only for the market beast to dictate... Anyway, holding is not a skill... it is only a human quality... But routinely buying in at a low price and selling at a high price is a real skill. That is what investment is all about...

Yes, I've learned a great skill to bear with the shrinking of portfolio in bad time. But good stocks quickly return and portfolio will return back.

I agree with you on that... Risk is the underlying principle... Playing the stock market is all about handling risk. Some do it well, but most don't it correctly... ![]() |

Not familiar. I don't trade, but invest. I don't know how to short. I rarely take profit below 10% gain, and never cut loss unnecessarily. Maybe I should also learn how to trade so that I can avoid more of the roller coaster rides.

It is not funny at all... And I do not see anything funny in that. It is plain fact that holding onto a declining stock is an irresponsible act of very high risk. Whereas traders are very 'kiasi' people who are afraid of excessive risk...

Only so-called 'investors' can bear to sit and watch as their holdings shrink before their very eyes in a market crisis. Thus, it is very heroic to be an investor... Because it calls for much nerve, grit and pride. all of which traders don't have... or have no compelling desire to have... hehehe... ![]() |

I'm an independent trader. Yes, I do have a good some of capital, but that is not the reason why I can make money from stock market. We are traders, we buy and sell stocks. We are not investors, we don't buy and hold. We don't watch our portfolio shrinks during crisis, we move to short position and watch our portfolio grows during crisis. We don't stress like other people because no matter what happens tomorrow, market up or down, we are still going to make money. This is the benefit of being a trader.

I'm curious. Are you with any financial house or an independent day trader? If you're trading with your own money, then you must have a good sum of spare capital. In other words, you're already rich. Otherwise, people will surely get stress when they see their portfolio shrinking during the recent crisis. |

Yalor. Trading is more or less the same as casino gambling when you take into account probability. Its just the way it is.

No true la. I'm a full time trader and trading is my main income source. I have fun trading and I enjoy doing it. I don't worry about not making enough because I know I will make enough. I don't work for others, so I don't bother reporting to any manager. I get my bonuses every month. I'm not stressful. I've health and wealth. However, I must admit the path is not easy. But, once you done it, it becomes very easy. Good luck.

Casino gambling is entertainment, not an earning tool. If you made it your main income source, it won't be fun anymore. Likewise, investing share is fun. But if you become a full time trader and you need to worry about making enough to show your manager every month to earn bonus, then it becomes a stressful task. You're also trading your health for wealth.
