read some where recently (can't remember where, was it ST?), a general guideline on the type of shares to hold in a portfolio. advice was to go by the percentage of amount invested, diversify into different shares such as 70% blue chips, 20% "semi-blue" (quoting Calculation) and 10% penny stock.

of course, the percentage depends on your risk appetite. if you high risk taker, maybe 50% blue and 50% penny stock, kind of portfolio. so no one is right and no one is wrong.

but i would think that we can go one step further to divide the 70% blue chips (for example) into 20% bank, 20% commodities, 30% property.

important thing is to go in with a well thought strategy and be consistent.

Unless those forumers tat make buy/sell calss uncategorically state their real names and tat they are analysts from whichever brokering hse, they dare to make thier stand and answerable for their calls, but of course, they are humans too, so dun expert all their calls to be correct but then they will be monitored for the % of right/wrong calls and they dun make brazen calls w/o justification.

i cant agree with what u hv said...in a forum everyone knows u read whatever presented with a pinch of SALT ! to be fair to that fellow...analyst also issue BUY/SELL calls with some crap reasons..u decide your own as it is your OWN $$.....sometimes we need "non-conventional" voices...and that add on to diff dimension of a forum discussion... :) who say trade stock MUST play BY ANY RULES ??? :P

For your info, TA is not infallible n dun works all the time n dun control the mkt, TA is used to analyse the mkt for trading actions based on tat TA practitioner's view n analysis.
