DJ MARKET TALK: UBS Raises SGX Target To S$15; Keeps At Buy
2358 GMT [Dow Jones] STOCK CALL: UBS ups SGX (S68.SG) target price to S$15.00 from S$11.60 after raising EPS forecast for FY08 to S$0.46 from S$0.39, for FY09 to S$0.55 from S$0.43. Change reflects expected increase in market volume as SGX reduces bid-ask pricing starting January; "we believe this can significantly increase the volumes via algorithmic trading." Adds M&A prospects have increased as alliances among exchanges become more popular; "we think while an outright acquisition of SGX is inconceivable, minority stakes which cement alliances globally may be possible." Keeps Buy call. Stock +4.7% at S$13.50 yesterday. (FKH) |

nicky.. wow you super heng... got chance today that you might get out unscathed... BTW, if SGX buys in for Nicky at 2 ticks above.. it will mean 20 cents above, right? However when the new bid size is implemented in January, it will mean only 4 cents (2 x 0.02)? It will work better for those people who short naked? |

haha nick theoretically shortin now at 13.8 carries less risk then at 13.3. still waitin for signs to join u in shortin. think tomo will see more greed on this counter, cheers |

Interesting... a speculative blue chip with high dividend. Really tests one's belief that blue chips are typically low in capital appreciation. Then again, it did move from S$7++ to almost S$10++ previously after TSE bought into SGX. This will be pretty volatile in the short term - 2 dollar moves don't happen so frequently in S'pore stocks. |

Amazing performance by SGX today. But I wonder if the M&A of SGX by a foriegn entity will really take place. |

Nickyng, You should perhaps write a book titled 'The deliberate stockmarket (mis)adventures of Nicky'.  . Put it up in the alternative investments section in bookstores.
I think there are perhaps a lot of exciting chapters readers will look forward to - just describe the emotions you go thru when you short especially the last 5 minutes before SGX closes. Most people like to support the underdog hehehe! |
