STI to cross 3000 boosted by long-term investors

This report is wrong and Bias. It mentioned STI rose 11.9% post polling day in 2001 GE, but fail to mentioned the fall after the polling day. It then goes to talk about STI falls after the 2006 GE, but fail to mentioned the rise leading to the polling day. The fact is STI always rise before Polling Day and falls after that. The question of how much STI is going to rise or fall.

STI may has a technical rebound tomorrow. After that is the Election Day. Next Monday, after everyone knows the result, STI is most likely to fall further. How far the fall depends on the how many seats PAP losses. The more they loss the more STI is going to fall. This is just my personal views. You invest at your own risk. Good luck. |

In a statement, the analyst noted that while there is no clear historical trend of the STI's performance over a one-month period post Polling Day based on the past five Ges,an analysis of the index's performance against the percentage of votes won by the People’s Action Party (PAP) show a “discernible positive relationship.” In the 2001 GE, the STI rose by 11.9% for the one-month period post Polling Day following PAP's success in securing 75% of votes, the highest over the recent five GEs. In contrast, PAP's failure to win more than 61% of votes-- its lowest over the past five GEs-- led to a 3.1% STI decline over the following month. DMG Research said the upcoming polls present a trading opportunity both for investors who are banking on a PAP sweep and those who remain skeptical of the party. “We believe the results for the coming GE will impact the STI over the next few weeks. If one believes the PAP will win a higher percentage of votes, he should be buying into the current equity market weakness.... Exactly.. I agree. Once upon a time, PAP was the opposition. They won the people's hearts, they wanted a better life for the people of Singapore. But that was decades ago. Now, what do the people see.. many look at it as almost a dictatorship. What they say goes, no two questions asked. And now, a old tactic has resurfaced. Actually not old, it has been consistently used, but this GE it was made even more stronger. Fear Mongering. Do not allow fear-mongering influence you. Your vote IS SECRET. Otherwise those opposition by now no shirt on their back, those that voted them left with nothing. Then you think this will not become a world issue? For a " democratic" first world country?Actually the polling may not have directly affect our generation but whatever we vote, we are voting for the future, for our next generation. We don't look at ourselves, we just want the next generation to see the fruits. We don't want them to suffer... that they will not have money to buy property for themselves, cos everything will be too costly for them & the gap between rich & poor will be wider & wider & those so-called " average" people will become poor in the coming years. Should we leave this responsibility for the next generation, when they are in that predicament OR do what we can now, as ur forefathers did when they voted for a better tomorrow. They voted opposition.
