NASDAQ Reviews for Clearly Erroneous Trades
Pursuant to rule 11890(b), NASDAQ, on its own motion, will cancel all trades executed on US trade day 07 May 2010 between 14:40:00 and 15:00:00 greater than or less than 60% away from the consolidated last print in that security at 14:40:00 or immediately prior. This decision cannot be appealed. NASDAQ has coordinated this decision with all other UTP Exchanges. NASDAQ will be canceling trades on the participant's behalf. The stocks affected and the break points will be disseminated shortly.

CIMB Securities (Singapore) Pte Ltd has yet to receive the cancelled list from our counter party. Thus we would not be able to provide you with any details yet. If your trade is affected and cancelled, we would notify you & your Trading Representative accordingly.

SGX Counters Ineligible For Online Trading
Due to tightened controls imposed by our Company, some stocks are now ineligible for online trading. Please contact your trading representative if you wish to transact these counters.

You are advised to counter-check your latest holdings prior to submission of any sales orders. Any oversold positions by client will be constituted as " Short Selling" and will be subjected to buying-in by SGX. 

SGX woos high frequency traders

SINGAPORE

High frequency trading (HFT) is a type of algorithmic trading driven by computer programs and involving no human interaction. These trades currently make up some 30 per cent of the derivatives trading volume on the SGX.

“HFT potentially could support growing liquidity, making it more accessible for new capital and for investors to participate in the market,” said Mr Chew Sutat, executive vice-president of SGX.

Other initiatives include reducing tick sizes of derivatives spreads and increasing its product range to include metal futures.

According to Mr Chew, this will improve the efficiency of the market and reduce the cost of trading.

The SGX will also be the first Asian market to introduce pre-trade risk control at the exchange level for derivatives markets. This will take place in the second half of this year.

These various initiatives underscore the bourse’s ambition to play a bigger role in the global financial system.
