thanks  iPunter for the inputs..... i can only have some faith in these principles only if on the assumption that supercomputers are not available, 1. " high frequency trading" tool allow BB to precede market expectation by millisecond, dictating the trend within an entire exchange, for this please refer to the 2010 Flash Crash of DJI on May 6. 2. the fundamental of " high frequency trading" tool is to minimize risk for BB but increase the losses for average people. Flash trading aggravate this phenomenal. the only consolation from these is that investment will truly be a long run commitment with less volatility.   Cheer |

master ipunter, i must agree with u tat even a noob trader like me, i have been wanting to go back to the basics.. buy low-low and sell high-high be greedy when it comes to the position opening price and NOT greedy when it comes to position closing..(always rmb to take profit).. especially when the tide turns against u i also agree with master gaecia tat closing a position is a lot more important and difficult than opening a position.. i believe tat many experienced traders can know when to open a position but many find it very hard to determine when to close a position (most of the time will let the profit run away..)

Sad to say that society has manage to displaced itself with mere simple words.. in contemporary with securities, bonds and exchanges, the concept of value in economics has been as misrepresented as of the idea of the invisible hand in the market. there is no invisible hand in the market as there is value in every dollar produce in the market.... Understand how supercomputers affect the markets, one will understand that how basic principles no longer hold true in the economy after 2008. Cheer |

Rotjai...     No matter what trading /investing technique one has           acquired in the course of playing stocks,                   all is of no use unless one is at the same time guided                           by sound basic principles and premises.                                   And this is why you can find many veteran players                                           who are keen to 'go back to the basics' after                                                     being beaten by the market beast... ![]() |

STI index has broke the critical support at 3094 which signals the breakout of consolidation mode towards the selling trend. 1)  In weekly chart, a long black candle stick with little upper/lower shadow affirms that investors sells on fear as they are bearish on the economy ahead. 2)  The weekly trading volume remains low due to holiday session. 3)  MACD and RSI indicators are bearish as MACD lines cross downwards. 4) STI is currently supported by the support at 3070. 5) The support at 3040 is expected to be very strong. Watch for any consolidation at this level. Important resistance of STI: 3094 (Daily charts) Immediate Support of STI: 3070 (Daily charts) MY tactics: Since yesterday we have received numerous email/private message whether they should cut loss on their stocks since 3094 is broken. Some are worried about the money and cannot eat or sleep. Many bad news have been reported and investors are all worried on the economy growth. Disclaimer

In stocks play, trend is the most important concept, and reality.     But unfortunately, no one can tell the trend, until after the event.             In other words, a trend can only  be observed as it unfolds... ![]() |

This is rather obvious.     Because no matter how rich or how broke a person is,             It is most important not to lose money at any time.                   It is much much better to buy when stocks have gone low-low                             than to hold it all the way down    from the top.... ![]()

Gaecia is also right when she said that a full-time trader       also  has a lot of time to lose a lot of money.             The trick is to trade at the right time, but not all the time                       Most times, having no position is also a position......  ![]()         |

You are so very right... :)     The world will only come to an end when a trader           (or investor) loses all his principle capital, and more.                   And of course the world will not end anytime soon,                           at least not until we are well pass 2012...  ![]()
