when market down u right, when price up u wrong. Simple as that. Holding shares  is much better than shorting shares (cos u are naked). U can make many times monies than i have , but it is only 5% of my holdings, If i have to sell noe at this price (3.26-2.88= 0.38*@250++=  profit $95000++. Have u make profit at this amount or how many traDES U HAVE TO MAKE TO get this amount?? Come on, isolator, u short for a mere 0.20 profit for less than 100 lots . I have been holdings for yes...U know. Thats exclude my F& N @ 4.06 , Kepland at 3.95 and CWT @0.90 level.  How to compare? like mine , how to compare to my buddies holding millions of profit. They will be laughing at u .... To them, u earnings " peasnuts" .

To me, when fund has been trapped for too long is consider losing.... I am very sure, my trading return is many times of your returns.... and it's growth is magnify.... Anyway, everyone has their own  strategy... no right or wrong, as long as it can generate the returns you want within your risk tolerant... One should not argue for the sake of winning... One should  do reflection  on ownself.... Many hate me especially I short because it is against their trade, but why not take it a  REFERENCE or INFORMATION  and be cautiuos to long....Anyway, I am always  wrong.....  lol.. |

same rumor- China is going for interest rate increase. But personal- i think should be the last...Currency appreciation will be used instead in the 2nd half. Once Yuan is offically operated in Sg settlement. Yuan will increase in value- only way to control inflation. Also good profit for stocks operated in china- due to exchange rate.

as matter of fact. market could not earn retail if they opt for long. Like me, have u ever earn 1 cents from me, when i still holdings? No right. Paper lost only. U could onlt earn those who is too panick when price drops. Investing needs capital, trader needs guts. Investor is conservative and trader is a " gambler" in nature... That is the different.

yes, isolator. Everyone has their own portfolio just like u. But have their own strategy. U maybe a full time trader, but i am not. I go for fundamental companies with  good div. I had put in 60% of my cash in buying shares. Till now still got 10-15 % . which allows me to accumulate more of CPL. Just hold longer- it will go to the glory days, just like yr commodities counter u are holding (recently also droppings, right) . When u long, u never bother the short term drops, unless the fundamental weaken.

Trading is my interest which I enjoy doing it...... Honestly, I do not want to earn from retail as it is their hard-earned money... but markets is cruel....  no lose no win.... |

Do u know that the long term are sweeping shares during the april 2009? I had a friend who makes 5m in just 1 counter- OCBC. When it was at 4.32 level. Div already collected close to $150k.  Ask him whether he is going to sell? Another holding 1200lots in CWT when it was 0.85 level. Div is 0.25 (with special div). These are the  great investors i had know . For yrs, they go    in when everyone is leaving. They always average down. And most imp[ortant factor, they got the capital and they prepared to hold if price keeps going down... |

Isolator, enjoy while u can. I can say u will never win a :long term: investor. Because time to us is not a crucial time. But time is crucial to u. U cannot hold as long as us. As i just mentioned, if u have 5-6m in yr bank account. U will be act like us- u won short shares. U will go for long , cos small profit do not serve the purpose anymore. U get it. I haver been telling u that we are different- in terms of investing and capital. Using 1-2 m in CPl " will not " kill" me, or make me uneasy...Now already got my 3.30 10 loots. Going for 20 lots at 3.26. Try pushing down. I will tag along.

it depend on the market environment. My strategy cannot be followed unless u have holding power. " shorting" is not my " pro" cos i may not always watching the market. Lets say, if  u have 5-6 m in the bank. U will automatically be a " long term" investor. Becos u want constant income and not risk. I paid 18,000 in income tax yearly, and get $100 div bonus. Do u think i want to risk my savings into such a short term risk- may cost thousands of lose if tide is not with me. Shorter may do not agree, i am not a risk taker. I prefer to " protect" my wealth. Buying property n shares , for me are the same. 10 yrs 20 yrs or even 30 yrs... Must able to hold. How to expect that one can get 100% profit in 12 months. right. A good time to sell is when STI reach 3850 level. | ||||

Hi  Capland, out of curiousity, when would then be a good time to sell ? Do you have a TP, or do you hold indefinitely for the dividend irregardless of whatever situation. Thanks

Holding 300 to 400 lots in CPL is very common . I had a friend is holding 800 lots of kepland at 1.96 level. He is a pro. And he is a " long term" . He always buy whenever he finds " fit" . As for me, my bottom line 2.88 level ( accumulate from 1.80 to 3.96) . So, if u ask me . I will say my duration is 24mths  and above. Who care when the price down? i am more interested in the company profit- so paying us high dividend. When price drops to or nesr " book value" , i always grap. U may say the price will go lower. Let it be. And i buy in 10-20lots pertrade and not lump sum. " holding" is the " only" cure for short term movement . For instance, when the environmwnt bad- u expect our banks to " stop" lending? They still have to carry on their usual business. But they won " over stretch" . As such, I only buy  " good" companies, with good dividend record.
