NOL Sell | $1.95 Citi keeps rating and cuts the price target to $1.60 from $1.80, based on 1.0X FY11 P/B vs 1.1X previously, to reflect rising headwinds. The house says that while NOL’s3Q10 earnings may show strong improvement, concerns over US consumer spending trends and increased deliveries of new vessels suggest freight rates and profits in 2011 may disappoint. |

Some from local ones: from asiaone: What does it mean? The Capricorn or January effect refers to the tendency for stock prices to rise in the month of January. This rally has been observed over many years. It is the result of investors opting to sell their stocks before the year-end in order to claim capital loss for tax purposes. This happens in countries such as the United States where individuals are taxed for capital gains. Once the tax year passes, they will reinvest their money in the stock market again. The Capricorn effect is also attributed to individuals investing their year-end bonuses in stocks in January.

To buy or not, nobody knows. Just buy in parts. Personally, the market has no power. Afternoon, losing steam.... Maybe people are scared of Oct effect. Perhaps, good time to load up is after Oct for the capricorn effect. I'm just about 30% vested only. Will average up along the way. I believe the bull is still on .... Year end and 2011 1st Q will be interesting. Hope Cheong...Arh... |

NOL to raise $280m through 10-year bonds @4.65% SINGAPORE The bond, priced at 4.65 per cent, is part of NOL’s US$1.5-billion ($2.03 billion) medium-term note programme, the container shipping company said. The debt paper is expected to be issued on Sept 9 and NOL will have the option to redeem them at any time after five years, it said. The net proceeds of the notes will be swapped from Singapore dollars into US dollars and used to partially finance the order for 12 new container ships announced by the company earlier this year. — Neptune Orient Lines yesterday said it would raise $280 million through a 10-year bond issue.Dow Jones |

I beg to differ. Low interest rates actually work to the advantage of companies, as they can expand business without too high cost of financing. | ||||

On Tuesday, NOL falls below the important support at $1.92 and closed at $1.90 with HIGH volume of 23.4 million shares traded. Three black candles occurred in the last three days. Although these candles were not big enough to create three black crows, the steady downward pattern is bearish. Both RSI & MACD are bearish as RSI continue to trend downwards. Important Resistance of NOL: $1.92 Immediate Support of NOL: $1.87 Currently prices are supported by technical/200 days MA at $1.87. (Very Strong Support) Today prices drops below the major support at $1.92 at HIGH selling volume which is a bearish signal. Although the 200 days MA has been supporting the prices since Dec 2009 but we would not suggest buying now. SEE ANALYSIS FOR OCBC Instead we would watch if prices could hold at that level first since another round of selling will start if the support at $1.87 were to be breached. |

On Monday, NOL rebound off the support at $1.92 and closed at $1.98 with low volume of 15 million shares traded. A white candle sticks with long lower shadow similar to a “hammer” affirm that prices are firmly supported at the $1.92 with bargain hunters coming in at this level. RSI & MACD are bearish though both indicators show sign of reversal. Important Resistance of NOL: $1.99 Immediate Support of NOL: $1.92 Currently prices are supported by the technical / rising trend line at $1.92 while resisted by technical/50 days MA at $1.99. Prices of NOL seem to be supported at $1.92 for the past 3 trading sessions. As of now, NOL still maintains inside the rising trend line
and any breakout of $1.99 at high volume would be deemed as a bullish sign. Thus do look out any breakout at $1.99 for trading opportunities. |

We expect good result, and the result was great, so the price dropped. I was actually expecting a pull back in the operating performance, but the result is still good, so the price should fly. So my logic is: the price should go an opposite direction of people's expectation, regardless of results. Let's see. |
