Not only all the old uncles and aunties.. young also can lose big. Previously only 80% of CPF funds can be used for trustee stocks (mostly blue chips). Whether they lost a lot or little depends on when they enter thje market. Those who enter during recession will be " tarn tio" .. but those entering when everyone is bullish all over will be sure to " rugi" . But even if their stocks go up, if they don't sell, they will also end up " rugi" ..

Many bet on long time frames of years. But to benefit from bets, it is necessary to enter and exit at the right times. I agree with sifu bishan... Those who read charts would have assumed a downtrend long ago and strive to sell on the rallies, and long the rebounds (before they occur).... that would have been a better approach, rather than average down... Newbies who average down aggressively will suffer the most in a severe downtrend, which is not a " sng-sng" matter. Some people have committed suicide due to averaging down in a bear trend... They should discipline themselves so as not to make the mistake...

How ??? Nowadays investors dont even mind a 3% profit... With this mentality how can market go up ?? It needs investor's confidence. Park money there dont move. Nobody is willing.
