hullo, i do a lot of trading, so if i may clarify some of the stuff here? what you guys are talking about is known as amalgamation: if you're talking online trades, that is an option that you can click, so that you are charged only ONE commission for all the trades on that counter for the day. rather than say, 2 commissions for 2 trades on the same counter. at least, that's with my iocbc acct. not sure abt the rest, but there shd be something similar. if it's a phone broker, you'll need to ask him for the same thing: to charge all trades for the day under the same fee. Take note not all brokers will do so tho (hey, it's their ricebowl): depends entirely on your relationship with your broker. yeps, brokerage fees are negotiable. read the fine print below your brochures. it may not be minimum charge; sometimes it's even nothing. again, depends on what you can negotiate with your broker. but really, it works only if you are a big trader or know someone. for most retailers, full rates apply. |

So far, I have traded on-line, each bidding carries a trading number. If the trading is successful, each will require a broker's fee of minimum $25 + miscellaneous. I believe the combined trading is done through brokers directly. |

For the question of 1 lot Buying or Selling. There are a few possiblities. 1) That fellow may have bought many lots already and wanting to add on another lot to even out the trade. As I mentioned, the trade will be the total trade divide by the sum of lots traded. 2) 1 lot buying are usually done by the "tan chia" ones (Fund manager). They sell or buy one lot to see who is buying and selling and will balance their portfolio for the day. 3) Do you know there are some fund houses that do not need to pay or pay very little transaction brokerage fee as compared to us retail investor? |

I do that often. If I buy 10 lots at 1.00 and another 10 lots at 1.20 on the same day, My trade will be 1.10 for 20 lots. They will combine the trade and charge brokerage according. This applies to selling as well. But it MUST be done on the SAME DAY....Hope it helps. |

I was saying exactly what fairygal have just mentioned. You will only need to pay once on each counter at the end of the day. Well, if you are using internet trading, you need to pay $25 + Misc only.

Fairygal, if you buy this way you are required to enter two trade because you have two lot of different prices. So you end up also paying two transaction lah...I wonder how you could combined them. Care to share how you enter and submit two trades and get charge only one commission? |

If I buy 1 lot at 1.50, 1 lot at 1.60, my commission chargeable is based on 1000 X 1.50 + 1000 X 1.60, ie total bought for that particular day for each particular counter, subject to min commission of $40 + misc. Be careful if you bid for very low price and got only 1 lot, say a penny stock, then you still need to pay the min commission, ie $40 + misc. |

commission is per transaction. if you enter a trade with big volume but ended up partially filled at end of the day, you still pay one transaction |

I really doubt is per transaction. If that is the case, people who bought only a lot of very cheap penny share how? The brokerage will cost more than the share itself. Any broker around? Please clarify.... Thanks!
