15/03/11: IIFL starts Straits Asia Resources (AJ1.SG) at Buy with a $3.55 target price (54% upside). It says the company is a coal pure-play and is a good proxy to underlying benchmark coal prices: “in-line with rising demand for seaborne coal and strong benchmark coal prices, we expect SAR to deliver 66% earnings CAGR during FY11-FY13,” driven by 16% CAGR in coal production (from 10.5mt in FY10 to 16.5mt in FY13) 8.0% CAGR in average sales price (from US$72.8 ($92.4)/tonne in FY10 to US$94/tonne in FY13) and 700bps expansion in net margin between FY11-FY13 driven by strong cost control.
It notes the stock currently trades at 6.4X FY11 and 4.2X FY12 EV/EBITDA. The house says its 16% coal production CAGR assumes production at the Northern Leases to start by 3QFY11 “Sebuku will experience economies of scale, due to the ramp up of production at Northern Leases, and Jembayan will benefit from the installation of the new loader in April 2011.”
Load up quick before mid-year.

That will be like telling you whether there will be snow in New York this coming September. Generally, as an investor or trader, you will firstly need to know how much of money made will do for you for each trade made. And the need to know how you intend to achieve it. Going short or long and your time range. Have a solid plan in place. Of course everyone will say money is never enough, but the stock market is not a place where everyone thinks they can just dump in their hard earned money and expect it to grow exponentially. Greed will get you nowhere. For me, when I enter a trade, I will analyse the chart to what I know best. Then haveing a plan to make how much I wanna make from that trade. Next, I will begin trading. And I will exit when my target px is met. Yes, it may go lower of higher that what I may plan for. But always remember, charting isn't everything and plans can go wrong. Like Libya and Japan. So its important that we act fast to make our trade do not go into losses. So react quickly as you go along. To finally answer your qn, if short term I am looking at clearing 2.80 if possible in a couple of months time. Although its tough to say whether it can break previous high of 2.90. I have a quiet confidence in SAR as I have made some from it and so far hardly dissapointed me. But to each his own and never fall in love with a stock. Hope this helps. Again in tandem with STI, closed at 7cents up. Double bottoms appear valid trend reversals, as 15dMA have crossed with 35dMA. Momentum is also stronger now above 70 as RSI shows. 2.60 next.

Base on latest news, such as " S.Korea sees higher coal prices to fill Japan gap" and others. In fact just bought more low Au Coal shares and are going up now. Hard to agree with you. |

There is no reason for this stock to move any higher than it's current price, it has been the speculators favourite hunting ground for those who have been draged into it for the ride. Their production has not increased in the past 3 years and the new areas for mining will not be up for a while which has been factored in the current stock price. Low $1.80 High $2.50. No one can whistle a symphony. It takes an orchestra to play it. |
