Generally people get affected by the market direction, if the market goes up, their sentiment went up, if the market crash, people panic. But the true problem behind a bad economy  cannot be solved by stock market, the fundemental issues that causes the global market to go bad is the long term misused and bad economy policies, just like what Euro is facing now.  Especially at this age, the world is interwined into one, where  most countries  are affected by  others in one way or another, so a domino effect can cause a bigger damage. On the contrary, the economy is the one  affecting the stock market. Even if everyone here dump money into shares to pump everything up, if global economy really went down the drain, which hopefully not, jobs will still be lost, housing price will still plunge down and market will still crash. But cross our fingers, no one will ever wish that  to happen
