luckily, it's on the hill and not much casualty, no live quake video( well,, it's not as advance as Japan), guess no much economi loss, so no raise of fund globally, will be forgotten very soon unless some photos shown. singaporeans who experienced the 9 degree quake are very lucky, a deep memory one degree  was like cradle shaking, 3 degree was alarming and was afraid that it would pile up(the degreee of quake) so I can imagine the fearful  look when come to 9deg, especially for s'poreans who hardly have a chance to experience it (of course hope our land will not move closer to those quake belt).

Tokyo news--In aftermath of it earthquake...New fault line stress could trigger Tokyo quake..? http://sg.news.yahoo.com/fault-line-stress-could-trigger-tokyo-quake-20110321-023213-405.html Geologists say a powerful earthquake could strike near Tokyo because the recent monster that hit northeastern Japan altered the earth's surface, loading stress onto a segment of the fault line near the capital. The structure of the tectonic plates and fault lines around the city makes it unlikely that Tokyo would be hit by a quake anywhere near the intensity of March 11's magnitude-9.0 behemoth, said Roger Musson of the British Geological Survey. But given the vast population — the capital and its surroundings are home to 39 million people — any strong temblor could be devastating. " Even if you've got, let's say, a 7.5, that would be serious," the seismologist said. Japan is located on the Ring of Fire, an arc of volcanos and fault lines spanning the Pacific Basin, and is regularly hit by earthquakes. |

If radiation spreads (how can it not spread?)    who to be blamed?    Japan? or the providers ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anti-nuclear group -  Nuclear Information and Resource ServiceFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Nuclear Information and Resource Service (NIRS) is an anti-nuclear group founded in 1978 to be the information and networking center for citizens and organizations concerned about nuclear power, radioactive waste, radiation and sustainable energy issues. The organization advocates the implementation of safe, sustainable solutions such as energy efficiency, solar power, wind power and plug-in hybrids. As of 2007, NIRS claims to initiate " large-scale organizing and public education campaigns on specific issues," [1] such as to " bring technical expertise and strategic sense to grassroots environmental groups." In 2000, NIRS' affiliation with World Information Service on Energy (WISE) turned it into an international organization (NIRS/WISE).[1] The magazine Nuclear Engineering International has said that it runs easily the best website on uranium mining throughout the world.[2] |

In the wake of Japan Quake and nuclear crisis...Asean must wake up to apocalyptic gamble. Mulling over to built one here?, when a nuclear  accident strike us. We and Singapore, plus all surrounding  will... perishable liable to perish subject destruction or death or decay 'this minute and perishable 'perishable foods such as  avocating a slow death on those unborn and newly born babies, whether we creature  live on land and or under the sea.
Note--Japan  is  well aware of...* Japan radioactivity could enter food chain, children at risk

oh my god. what an idiot. wish to see the wise re consideration of it after what happened to Japan 3 in 1 disaster. this is not only shortage of energy, sounds to me the marketing of nuclear biz. the solar car and solar energy is expensive but it's not detrimental to the environment until zillion years after(may be), the sun's ray has all been consumed that the earth face the total darkness(if it happened) but this is zillion years compare to what all countries heads are doing now, very soon the end of the world is coming, it doesn't need any prophet or predictor to bullshit the exact day, but it's obvious. Just this year, what happened to Australia, New Zealand, Japan(the worst one) and then the regular sanfrancisco mt fire, the wind disaster in the States follow by HK , Taiwan, China(in June, July). This year end will be having even heaviest snow. May be here will snow too. see, it keeps raining after chinese new year which is not suppose to be. mei yan kan......so worry that they are all blind |

No matter what, we are just human. Mistake after mistake made, we learn and learn and learn  again and again. True, true...101% the truth. Till it strike on oneself dear life. For I may not live that long to witness it. Profit is foremost in their mind, never mind at all about the risk.  thinking they can hav supreme confident in  overcome nuclear  accident. likely their mind say we can till their children, children.......Very sad in deed. Most experts agree that growing children and fetuses are most at risk.

Note to prone on--On contrary, only last few years govt see and be seen expressions of interest among other Asean countries to also consider tapping nuclear power and going ahead to proceed with such perilous plan. Responses would seen as recently as last mth prompted Jakarta post reported Russia had indicated it was ready to provide Indonesia with assistant to build its own nuclear palnt in quake prone Sulawesi eastern belt. This might spell not only political distraster, " A slow cancerous death, accident with wider consequences"   on human catastrophic of great scale and great suffering by human greed. Many ordinary folks will be awaiting for such..., Distractor await them for d  benefit  done by  greedy businessman.  |

they have no insight of themselves. just emotional and gang ho without brain. Ask them to be catch up in being efficient in fundamental or simply project/securities first, like building a road. running port, tackling crimes and robberies etc. thus able to face the recent nuclear problem I am not being arrogant about here, but everyone can see. and it's a worry to us, it's just next to us. don't forget, they are going to build MRT till here, goosh, when every one rush here, it will cause us(the island) to sink.....mama mia!!! |

True. true, 101% the truth.... In the wake of Japan Quake and nuclear crisis...Asean must wake up to apocalyptic gamble. Just today. Still see and heard over CNA TV channel  (S'pore news)  a M'sia nuclear chief who is in charge of...still advocating for (Advocating definition, to speak or write in favor of support or urge by argument ...)  nuclear plant to be built in M'sia, if  he does, pls  built it next to his home town, where his dear family or their childrens, childrens live.

japan, such an efficient country, sacrifies few hundred engineers, firemen(get real close to the plants) to solve the problem and still have such enormous difficulties in getting the problem solved. You think Malaysia CAN? a country which takes years just to build a short distance a road. | ||||||||||||

Japan latest news... Japan's nuclear agency hiked the accident level to five from four on the international 0-7 scale of gravity for atomic accidents, an admission the crisis had at least equalled the US Three Mile Island accident in 1979. The elevation of the accident level to 5 indicates " an accident with wider consequences" , according to the International Nuclear Event Scale (INES). The world's worst nuclear disaster, at Chernobyl in 1986, rated a 7. The IAEA sent a radiation monitoring team to Japan to help authorities determine whether any dangerous radiation had been released from the stricken plant 250 kilometres (155 miles) northeast of Tokyo. Nevertheless, Amano emphasised that Japan must reach out for help, after criticism authorities had not issued information fast enough and fears that a larger radiation leak might contaminate the 12-million-strong capital. " It is important that the international community, including the IAEA, handles this jointly," he said in Tokyo. " Especially cooling (the reactors) is extremely important, so I think it is a race against time." Japan has said radiation levels from the plant pose no health threat outside a 20-kilometre exclusion zone...??, despite slightly elevated levels in Tokyo earlier in the week.,..?? Then what is this statement said..??. *  Radioactive materials spewed into the air by Japan's earthquake-crippled nuclear plant may contaminate food and water resources   Japan may be  aware of...* Japan radioactivity could enter food chain, children at risk . |

Japan may aware of...* Japan radioactivity could enter food chain, children at risk
* Radioactive materials spewed into the air by Japan's earthquake-crippled nuclear plant may contaminate food and water resources.S'pore--Radioactive materials spewed into the air by Japan's earthquake-crippled nuclear plant may contaminate food and water resources, with children and unborn babies most at risk of possibly developing cancer.
Any exposure to radioactive materials has the potential to cause various kinds of cancers, with higher levels of radiation seen as more dangerous.
" For some individuals even a small amount of radiation can raise the risk of cancer. The higher the radiation, the higher the risk of cancer," said Lam, who is also a member on the American Board of Toxicologists.
" The explosions could expose the population to longer-term radiation, which can raise the risk of cancer. These are thyroid cancer, bone cancer and leukemia. Children and fetuses are especially vulnerable," said Lam Ching-wan, chemical pathologist at the University of Hong Kong.
Radioactive material is carried by minute moisture droplets in the air, then can  be directly inhaled into the lungs, get washed down by rain into the sea and onto soil, eventually contaminate crops, marine life and drinking water.
Cow milk was also especially vulnerable, experts said, if cows graze on grass exposed to radiation.
" No one is measuring the levels of radiation in the sea," Lee told Reuters.

" Steam that is released into the air will eventually get back into the water and sea life will be affected ... once there is rain, drinking water will also be contaminated."
Children at risk
Radiation is dangerous because it can cause changes or mutations in DNA, which may then go on to cause cancer. While the human body can repair DNA changes or damage, a person is only safe if the repair process happens faster than the time it takes for the damaged or mutated DNA material to replicate.

Most experts agree that growing children and fetuses are most at risk b'cos their cells divide at a faster rate than adults.

They (babies and childrens) also consume more cow milk than adults, putting them at further risk, said a Japanese scientist who treated victims of the atom bomb explosion in Hiroshima.
" Cows are like vacuum cleaners, picking up radioactive iodine that lands over a wide area of pasture, and then those particles very easily are concentrated and pass into the milk," said the expert, who declined to be identified.

" This was what happened in Chernobyl, and unfortunately, info risk had not been supplied to parents."
