Yes... simple enough... hehe... actually, in a bull market, there's not much to worry about... as prices will remain 'firm'... :) |

I think what Sohg is trying to say is something like this " As long as there is dividend payout, buy and hold on until there is no more dividend payout. It is OK if the share price never move at all!! Sell only px move and make enough $$$$!!!! If that is the case, investing in the Stock Market is definitely much simpler - just go for dividends-payout shares (I'm sure there're plenty to 'play' with) and never mind about the numbers or market environments. AS LONG AS THERE'S DIVIDENDS, BUY! It is that simple ????????? |

Sohguanh... So I presume even if your stock falls 50%, you will still be holding it for the dividend payouts? Hope you don't mind me asking you this. Just curious...:) |

I beg to differ. I belong to the class that invest in stocks for dividends payout. If the capital gain is high enuff it is considered a bonus to sell then. In fact my strategy is reverse of your strategy. |

We all invest in stocks mainly for capital gains which're definitely more important than dividends r'ecd - theres no doubt about that. Dividend is just like an added-bonus. I believed some sold-off their shares CD could be due to tax related 'problems'.Cheers! |

Hey, in a market panic, dividend is considered peanuts compared with what you can lose in diving prices. It's all emotional, you see... but a fact. |

Hi all, what's happening to Singtel? It seems that DBSV's downgrade doesn't have any effect on Singtel at all! |

Very very true !! If you place your target too far you may not hit it right. Put it nearer and it is easier to aim correctly. Most importantly is getting there (your goal)! Cheers!!!!!!!!! |

It fell after DBSV downgraded its rating on the stock to "hold" from "buy" citing the stock's recent surge and tough competition in the domestic market. However, he raised his target price for SingTel to $3.35 from $3.17, as he expects higher contributions from SingTel's regional associates over the next year. This shows that you should not wait for target price to be reached before selling. Analyst Sachin Mittal said in a client note on Wednesday that the recent surge in SingTel's share price "does not leave much upside for the stock," which had closed at a six-year high on Tuesday. Mittal also raised the possibility of Singapore state investment firm Temasek Holdings trimming its stake in SingTel. "Domestic business outlook seems challenging, with increased competition in the broadband space," Mittal said, referring to the entry of three new players in this sector, including SingTel's rival MobileOne. Mittal said he saw little prospect of a further rise in the stock in the short term. |
