I suppose it will remain buoyant by the new. Monday seems to be half day trading for DOW.. S& P already stated in Dec very clearly that they are review downgrading the Europe in Jan. However I dont expect STI to drop more than 40 points and should recover towards the end of the day.  2) Yes Genting SP is in accumulation mode. First week of Jan .. Genting SP chiong to 1.575 or 1.58... there are many stuck at that level. Thats why I c many Big traders are force to sell off millions of genting shares on friday. Likely to see some positive gain in coming days. 3) There are 2 issue that i am worrying right now. Major will be Greek as debt negotiation are halted and time is running out for Greek. Minor will be Iran. Dont go into panic mode and just start selling on Monday. Wait and see... how's other major market react to the news. like Hong Kong and China. China falls on Friday seems like they already knew about the downgrade.   Trade with Care. Remember any post you read here is just based on personal opinion. x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Dont belive in those analyst who say these are defensive, telco so on and on. In the dire situation , these so call defensive will still be going down all the same, except they may be the last to do so. if you go back to 2008 and 09 you will know.

DOW recovered strongly from initial knee jerk reaction of -160pt to close -48pt means downgrade was fully priced in. Do not panic sell on Monday & regret later, stay calm and analyse Dow 1-day chart (Fri 13th) for yourself (see below).

A white candle sticks with little lower shadow affirms that investors have no hesitant in buying the stocks higher. Key Economics Data report: On Friday, Standard & Poor’s has downgraded the credit ratings of nine euro zone countries. S& P lowered its long-term rating on Cyprus, Italy, Portugal and Spain by two notches, and cut its rating on Austria, France, Malta, Slovakia and Slovenia by one notch. This move puts Italy on the same BBB+ level as Kazakhstan and pushes Portugal into junk status. S& P believes that there is at least a one-in-three chance that a country’s rating will be lowered in 2012 or 2013. Technical Analysis on STI STI index has managed to break out of the resistance at 2783 in this week which indicates on the bullishness of the market sentiment. 1)  In weekly chart, a white candle sticks with little lower shadow affirms that the market sentiment has began to turn bullish on earning reports. 2)  The weekly trading volume continue to rise slightly as investors return from the holiday. 3)  MACD and RSI indicators are bullish as RSI trend upwards. 4) STI is currently supported by the major support at 2783 5) The major resistance at 2856 is likely to stall STI. x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Yes i agree. In 1997, Asian Financial Crisis, US mkt fairly unaffected. Off course as world leader in financial mkt, when they were downgraded, it affect the whole world mkt. But this time it was the European countries downgraded. It drop from 12800 to 10,400 ... What happens after 4 months?  We are back to 12,000 level. Funds/BB will not dump everything again like last round so dont be panic.
