Shares +7.5% in active trade at S$1.15, highest level since January 2007; order book quotes suggest resistance at S$1.20. Stock has been strong performer recently as excitement has grown ahead of casino opening early next year, shares +37% since start of August vs STI down 2%. Now South China Morning Post newspaper reports Macau's gaming revenue rose 17.2% on-year in August, reaching the biggest monthly takings ever and Macau's second consecutive month of on-year growth, suggesting casino market back on track following tough 1H09. "With the economic recovery, people are getting more comfortable on Genting," says dealer at local house. Adds, timing of casino open looks favorable given improving economic backdrop, while increasing popularity of regional gaming destination vs Las Vegas also positive. (KIG)

"There is growing conviction that people who go to places like Las Vegas may choose to come here for a new experience. Besides, these guys (Genting) have sufficient backing and experience to draw in the crowds," says sales director at foreign brokerage. Traders also note more investors catching on to CLSA's recent report saying Genting shares may potentially be worth as much as S$3.00. Orderbook quotes suggest stock may trade up to S$1.20. (FKH)
