Yangzijiang bags record RMB1bn profit
Singapore: Privately-owned Yangzijiang Shipbuilding bagged a record net profit of over RMB1bn ($157.7m) for its third-quarter of 2011.
The gleaming results were attributed to recognition of higher margin shipbuilding contracts delivered and under construction that were secured prior to the financial crisis, and the yard delivered more vessels in the third-quarter. Singapore-listed Yangzijiang improved its net profit by 40% from RMB730.4m seen in the third-quarter of 2010. Revenue also improved 12% year-on-year to RMB3.46bn, the company announced on Wednesday. The shipbuilder delivered 19 ships during the quarter, up from 14 ships delivered in the same period of last year. As at 30 September 2011, Yangzijiang's outstanding orderbook stood at 114 vessels worth a total of $5.3bn. “The industry conditions are tough, but we are confident of winning new shipbuilding orders due to our unique and niche positioning,” said Ren Yuanlin, executive chairman at Yangzijiang. Many people are thinking like you. Everyone is trying to sell faster than you, and just like tender exercise, end of the day everyone just lock in at 1cts profit enough. That is why the trading pattern is at 90 to 97 then drop to 85 to 93 and 85 Yangzijiang exercise share buy back.

Cosco has execution risks ?? So far never hear any news that YZJ experience in cost overruns... " " The main culprit was higher expected losses on construction contracts of S$47 mil. We understand from management that the bulk of these expected losses originate from its offshore projects where it experienced cost overruns. The expected losses also provides for penalties stemming from a probable late delivery of one of its vessels currently under construction. The company also mentioned that they might have to recognize further losses in subsequent quarters if they experience further cost overruns or negotiate new shipbuilding/offshore projects at a loss, which we think is highly possible given 1) as it embark on the construction of model/class of rigs not built previously (Letourneau jackups, DP3drillships) and 2) current shipbuilding market remains weak with little signs of improvement (current rates on construction of bulk carriers not profitable). Yangzijiang always follow behind COSCO COSCO is big brother! Cosco is YZJ client, Cosco order ships from Yangzijiang. Another way of looking is Yangzijiang is cheaper. |

YZJ and Cosco playing catching - Cosco was so far away - its slowed down then YZJ speed up a little closing in thenb Cosco speed up a little can't get it now. Its just a matter of days - neck to neck then over take....................... Then both puntured ..............then the race start all over a again........ After YZJ result and divident announcement - it would move past Cosco......:) |
