while VIX index option volatility in tracking Apple options is increasing more risker. The CBOE Apple VIX index measurses the expected 30-days volatility jumped 35% last week, suggesing more gyration ahead.

Boockvar pointed out that just this week a flurry of firms raised price targets on Apple, behavior that is often considered a sign of a coming top. Piper Jaffray raised its target above $700, and Bernstein gave Apple a target of $710 from $600. Morgan Stanley put Apple on its best idea list with a target of $720, and $960 next year.

“We haven’t come out of the box this strong in a long time, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see a period of consolidation in stocks,” James Dunigan, who helps oversee $107 billion as chief investment officer in Philadelphia for PNC Wealth Management, said in a phone interview. “Apple news is interesting, but it was highly anticipated.”

In corporate news, iPhone and iPad maker Apple announced Monday that it will pay a dividend and buy back shares as investors clamored for a return of its near $100 billion cash hoard. Apple said it would spend $10 billion on a share-repurchase program and initiate a quarterly dividend of $2.65 per share. The Cupertino, Calif.-based company said it expects to spend $45 billion over the next three years.

Tomorrow may gap down. My shorts are still open. Especially for the pennies, no strength, may drop further. Today picked up jes but already closed off. Shorted the oil n gas sectors pennies.

STI looks to have short term peak on last friday. however the gap up on last friday has not been broken yet. shortists need to stay cautious and closed position should market trade up tomorrow. dunt expect bulls to just throw in the towel w/o a good fight. good luck:p
