Probably investors were a bit disappointed that there's no special divds this time. But overall, FY divds of 12.5cts with final 6.9cts still not bad lah! They are holding back on special divds due to current challenging operating environment with imminent MTN or Vietnam or Open-Net infrastructure investment which I think is a good sign for longer term strategies/outlook. Fundamentals are still strong/sound....should keep investing for long term investors. Cheers! | ||

Yeap. Still some selling this morning. There are talks about profit erosion in indonesia and indo biz is one of the main contributor of singtel profit. Dividend not bad hope that will give some support to share price. Aim for 3.85 today. | ||

Well done SINGTEl.... but i think the news is not fully digest by investors as yet... can't be only stays at 3.78 range... at least 3.85 by today Hope guys traded this will not rush to sell off so early.... cheers

DJ SingTel 4Q Net Pft S$1.1B Vs S$989.4M; Poll S$905.3M SINGAPORE (Dow Jones)--Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. (Z74.SG) Wednesday said its fourth-quarter profit grew 10.5% on year due to higher revenue, stronger contributions from its regional associates and a one-time gain. SingTel said in a statement its net profit for the quarter ended March 31 was S$1.1 billion, compared with S$989.4 million a year earlier. A Dow Jones poll of analysts forecast S$905.3M in net profit for the quarter. SingTel booked an exceptional gain of S$153 million from Bharti Airtel Ltd's. (532454.BY) sale of shares in a subsidiary. SingTel has a 30.4% stake in the Indian mobile operator. Underlying net profit for the quarter was S$968 million, up 9.2% on year from S$886 million. SingTel's pretax earnings from its stakes in regional operators grew 18% on year to S$630 million, driven by strong performances by Bharti and Indonesian operator PT Telkomsel. Revenue rose 11% to S$3.76 billion from S$3.38 billion a year earlier. The Dow Jones poll forecast was S$3.49 billion. Revenue from SingTel's Optus unit in Australia rose 4.5% to A$1.94 billion. SingTel said it expects double-digit underlying earnings growth in the medium term. It also expects revenue from the Singapore operations to grow at mid single-digit level in the fiscal year ending March 2009, while the Optus unit is expected to post single-digit revenue growth over the same period. The company said earnings from its stakes in regional mobile operators are expected to grow at double-digit levels, although the rate of growth will be slower than that in the past two years on increased competition in the Indonesian mobile market and higher full year losses from Warid Telecom Ltd., a Pakistani mobile operator, as it continues a network rollout. SingTel reiterated that it continues to look for new investment opportunities and "explore opportunities in adjacent markets - Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa." Good result!!  |

SingTel is scheduled to report fiscal fourth-quarter earnings before the Singapore market opens tomorrow (click me). Share buy back should be a good news & give a strong support to it's share price if Singtel decided to exercise it in between 16-31 June. So, when the market open tomorrow, Singtel share would .................(fill in yourself). |

Wow... i also hope that will happen and i will collect more of it... it was my entry price last 3 days ago or so.... have been monitoring this BLUE chip and really can't be wrong about it this time... However, i strongly think that it will hit higher high tomolo after opening be it DOW JONE rise or fall tonight...

FY08 results will be release tomorrow before market re-open, it will be flat due to Sgd's appreciation against regional currencies. Dividends should be at least 10cts + 4-6cts special...just predicting. Hehe! | ||
