卫生部上周末在武吉公满新村提供诊疗、治疗与卫生问卷服务，初步发现上门求诊的 206名居民中，约有 30%出现皮肤问题。

卫生部副总监洛曼（ Lokman Hakim）今日在卫生部向媒体承认，根据卫生部派遣的医疗团队，发现上门寻求治疗的逾 200名居民中，初步发现 30%患有皮肤问题。

惟他说，这 30%出现健康问题的居民中，大部分都是小问题

2012 will be a tremendous yr for stock speculation.

everyone is eyeing QE3, everyone expect QE3 will push up mkt fiercely, so everyone start to accumulate BB, CC , DD etc so if everyone doing the same who will lose in the end? how they will lose? when will they lose?

i expect this win n lose will be a huge amount but if everyone doing the same how can this happen?

The top five performing STI stocks over the past 12 months were as follows:
Fraser & Neave (F99), total return +61.8%. On Friday, the stock price of Fraser & Neave had appreciated to S$8.57 from S$5.44 on 10 August 2011. This represented a price appreciation of 57.5%. Taking into account dividend distributions over the past 12 months, the total return was boosted to 61.8%. Most of the price gain has occurred recently over the months of June, July and August. Fraser & Neave has been a focus of merger & acquisition discussions that have involved other major industry players including Thai Beverage (Y92) and Asia Pacific Breweries (A46).

Starhub (CC3), total return +43.7%. The appreciation of Starhub to S$3.63 on Friday from S$2.70 on 10 August 2011 represents a 34.4% price appreciation. Taking into account dividend distributions over the past 12 months, the total return was boosted by 9.3% to 43.7%. The current indicative dividend yield of Starhub is 5.5%. Starhub belongs to the Telecommunication Services Sector which is normally viewed by investors as a defensive sector relative to the other sectors represented by stocks listed on Singapore Exchange (SGX). In the 2011 calendar year the FTSE ST Telecommunication Services Index gained 4.99% in contrast to the broader market declines.

CapitaMalls Asia (JS8), total return 39.1%. The appreciation of CapitaMalls Asia to S$1.69 on Friday from S$1.24 on 10 August 2011 represents a 36.4% price appreciation. Taking into account dividend distributions over the past 12 months, the total return was boosted to 39.1%. CapitaMalls Asia is part of the Real Estate Holding & Development Sector which has been the strongest of the FTSE ST Sector Indices in the calendar year-to-date for 2012, gaining 34.8%.

ComfortDelgro (C52), total return 34.6%. On Friday, the stock price of ComfortDelgro had appreciated to S$1.645 from S$1.275 on 10 August 2011. This represented a price appreciation of 29.0%. Taking into account dividend distributions over the past 12 months, the total return was boosted to 34.6%.

Sembcorp Industries (U96), total return 34.1%. The appreciation of Sembcorp Industries to S$5.53 on Friday from S$4.26 on 10 August 2011 represented a price appreciation of 29.8%. Taking into account dividend distributions over the past 12 months, the total return was boosted by to 34.1%.

STI’s pullback off the 3100 resistance may have started last

week. The pullback should find support at either 3000, at

worst 2930. Post pullback back, look for the STI to resume its

climb. A subsequent break above 3100 sends it towards but

not likely to exceed 3200. For now, immediate resistance is at

2970.

When bad times are overlooking the horizon of our market and economy, we should also question if Singapore should also do a QE ourselves esp in the stock markets when we are in poor health? This kind of thing never heard raised in the streets or coffee shops. Times have to change. Lol...

Data on Friday showing Singapore's economy contracted in the second quarter of the year is unlikely to dent the appeal of the country's stock market, one of this year's outperformers in Asia, strategists say.

Vasu Menon, Vice President, Wealth Management Singapore at OCBC Bank says Singapore is becoming a favorite among international fund managers, because its blue-chip companies are paying out higher dividends than companies in other parts of the world facing a sharp slowdown in economic growth.

" If you look at the performance of Asian markets year-to-date, Singapore stands out like a sore thumb - it is the second-best performing market in Asia in U.S. dollar terms [total returns] after the Philippines," Menon said on CNBC Asia's " Squawk Box."

Singapore's benchmark Straits Times Index (FTSE International: .FTSTI), which has gained almost 16 percent so far this year should extend its rally to the 3,200 level over the next few months, a gain of almost 5 percent from current levels, said Menon.

He added that Singapore offers a lot more opportunities in terms of dividend-yielding stocks compared to the rest of Asia.

" You can actually get pretty good dividend yields here compared to deposit rates which are pathetic, dismal," Menon said. " Deposit rates are less than 1 percent and you can actually find good dividend paying stocks, they pay you like 5-6 percent dividends and not just that, I think it's sustainable as well."

Menon says investors looking for high-yield should focus on growing sectors like real estate investment trusts (REITs), which pay dividends of up to 8 percent.

" I think the commercial property market in Singapore is still quite buoyant - retail sales are coming through fairly well, and rentals are able to sustain the payouts that some of these commercial property REITs can offer," Menon said.

Christy Fong, Investment Manager at Aberdeen Asset Management Asia, says investing in Singapore companies that will benefit from growth in the region is also a safe bet in the long term.

" Banks are a good example of that, very conservative, well run banks, they have been investing in Singapore for the last decade or so, and they're very well capitalized as well," Fong said.

" They're [Singapore stocks] still offering a decent yield in times of uncertainty and volatility. I think there's probably quite a bit of support for a segment like that."

Safe-Haven Singapore?

Fong says the strong performance of Singapore stocks this is year is a reflection of investors' preference for " quality" and defensive stocks amid market volatility.

" Given the fact that Singapore listed companies tend to be quite conservative, quite well-run and have been investing in the region and valuations are not excessive, we still think it's quite a safe haven to be invested in," Fong said. " More than that, it's the strength of the balance sheet that we pay attention to."

Still, Fong added a note of caution.

Despite the strong performance of the Singapore market, which is trading at around 13 -14 times price-to-earnings, the stock market is not immune to a slowdown in growth both at home and abroad, Fong said.

Data on Friday showed Singapore's economy contracted 0.7 percent in the second quarter from the first on an annualized and seasonally-adjusted basis, hit by global economic uncertainty. This was not as bad as an advance estimate in July of a 1.1 percent contraction, but economists, who had expected an expansion, were taken by surprise.

" Singapore is still very exposed to what's happening outside of the country and we've seen some of the weakness in the more globally exposed stocks like SIA [Singapore Airlines] for example," Fong said. " Obviously that's to do with the fuel price as well, but generally demand is quite weak across the board."

Singapore Airlines' (Singapore Exchange: SIAL.SI) shares have risen 6 percent for this year, but that performance has lagged the broader market, which has gained almost 16 percent since the start of the year.

Once upon a time in a village, a man appeared and announced to the
villagers that he would buy monkeys for SGD 100. The villagers seeing that
there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started
catching them.

The man bought thousands at SGD 100 and as supply started to diminish, the
villagers stopped their effort. He further announced that he would now buy
at SGD 200. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching
monkeys again. Soon the supply diminished even further and people
started going back to their farms.

The offer rate increased to SGD 250 and the supply of monkeys became so
little that it was an effort to even see a monkey let alone catch it.
The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at SGD 500! However,
since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now
buy on behalf of him.

In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers. " Look at all
these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected. I will sell them
to you at SGD 350 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell it to
him for SGD 500."

The villagers squeezed up with all their savings to buy the monkeys.
Then they never saw the man nor his assistant, only monkeys
everywhere!!!!
