after J.P. Morgan said the stock looks fully valued for now and 
there was limited upside to crude palm oil prices. 
At 0235 GMT, Golden Agri shares were down 1.3 percent at 
S$0.75 on a volume of 167 million shares. The stock rose 57 
percent last year. 
J.P. Morgan said Golden Agri's share price has performed 
strongly in the last six months and was now trading at a 
price-earnings ratio of 14 times for its 2011 financial year, 25 
percent above its historical mean P/E. 
"J.P Morgan said CPO (crude palm oil) prices may stagnate 
for a while, so there will be a correction more or less across 
the board. They are bearish on Golden Agri in particular, but 
overall the best is probably over for a while," said a local 
trader. 
"First Resources' share placement may have dampened 
investors' appetite to buy more," he added. 
Shares of Singapore-listed palm oil firm First Resources 
fell as much as 9.3 percent earlier on Thursday after 
its main shareholder, Eight Capital, sold 75 million shares of

Golden Agri down on J.P. Morgan report

Shares of palm oil firm Golden Agri-Resources (GAGR.SI) fell as much as 2.6% on Thursday after J.P. Morgan said the stock looks fully valued for now and there was limited upside to crude palm oil prices.
 
At 10:35 a.m., Golden Agri shares were down 1.3% at $0.75 on a volume of 167 million shares. The stock rose 57% last year.
 
J.P. Morgan said Golden Agri’s share price has performed strongly in the last six months and was now trading at a price-earnings ratio of 14 times for its 2011 financial year, 25% above its historical mean P/E.
 
“J.P Morgan said CPO (crude palm oil) prices may stagnate for a while, so there will be a correction more or less across the board. They are bearish on Golden Agri in particular, but overall the best is probably over for a while,” said a local trader.
 
“First Resources’ share placement may have dampened investors’ appetite to buy more,” he added.

crystal, i am also inexperienced. I only meant to imply typically on days of most depressed price, volume is abnormally high due to extreme market sentiments. That does not necessitate the bulls will return next day.

LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- China's economy grew faster than expected in the fourth quarter, with the National Bureau of Statistics reporting Thursday that gross domestic product was up 9.8% from the year-earlier period, and was up 10.3% for all of 2010. The result was above a fourth-quarter forecast for a 9.2% rise, according to a Dow Jones Newswires survey, while the full-year growth beat respective Dow Jones and Reuters forecasts of 10.1% and 10.2%. Consumer inflation hit 4.6% year-on-year in December, a little below a Dow Jones projection of 4.7% and a FactSet forecast of 4.8%. China's GDP had risen 9.6% in the third quarter, while the consumer price index had climbed 5.1% year-on-year in November. In other data released Thursday, the producer price index increased 5.9% in December from a year earlier, and 2010 urban fixed-asset investment was up 24.5% in 2010.

Singapore’s STI is down 0.4% at 3230.00, tracking the declines on Wall Street and lower regional markets, with two fallers for every gainer on the broad market and 446 million shares traded worth $422 million.

The benchmark index remains within its recent 60-point trading range, with all eyes on China’s 4Q data due 10:00 a.m. for further cues; a bullish growth number is likely to be taken negatively by investors, more like a red flag to more tightening from Beijing. 
 
Phillip Securities says the STI could react to the Chinese numbers, “so heads up.” The house notes, “current technicals do not look too great in the short term with yesterday’s high rejecting resistance in the 3257/58 region.”
 
House reiterates the importance of support at 3220-3225, which is currently being tested; says resistance is around 3257. First Resources (EB5.SG) falls 7.5% to $1.48 after its major shareholder places 75 million shares at $1.48/share; CapitaMall Trust (C38U.SG) is flat at $1.90, in muted response to its 4Q earnings, which is flat on quarter.

Cosco Corp (F83.SG) shares are halted pending an announcement, after closing 3.9% higher at $2.42 Wednesday in healthy volume due to speculation over group restructuring. 

UOB-KayHian, which has a Buy rating and $2.50 target, says the restructuring “could result in Cosco Corp acquiring key shipyard assets from Cosco Group, while divesting its dry bulk shipping fleet of 12 vessels to China Cosco. Cosco Corp’s stake in Cosco Shipyard Group would likely be raised to 70% from 51% with the acquisition of a 19% stake from Cosco Group.” 

It says that would transform Cosco Corp “into a full-fledged shipbuilding group in one fell swoop.” It adds, the exact impact on earnings is hard to quantify at this juncture, “but we would expect earnings enhancement.” 
 
It tips 2011, 2012 net profit of $275.0 million and $348.0 million respectively, and estimates that the acquisition of 19% of CSG would likely enhance 2012 net profit by 16%, divestment of the dry bulk business would reduce 2012 earnings by 21%.

Cosco Corp may gain if parent injects assets - DBS Vickers

Cosco Corp. (F83.SG) may gain if parent Cosco Group transfers its stake in two shipbuilding operations to the Singapore-listed company, DBS Vickers says in a report. 

The possibility of the parent injecting its stakes — 19% of Cosco Shipyard Group and all of Cosco Shipbuilding Industry, which owns two shipbuilding yards in Nantong and Dalian — could add 20% to Cosco Corp.’s bottomline, DBS Vickers says in a report Wednesday. 
 
DBS notes talk Cosco Group would restructure resurfaced after a government panel’s plan to push forward major state-owned enterprises’ complete listing in 2011 as part of the goverment’s 12th Five-Year Plan; the house says company management could not verify this. 
 
The house keeps the stock at Buy, with a raised target price of $3.03 from $2.76. The report adds, Cosco is poised for further re-rating if the parent injects strategic stakes, contract flow strengthens or shipbuilding improvement tops views. Cosco has requested a trading halt pending an announcement at 9:00 a.m. after gaining 4% to $2.42 Wednesday, without providing further details.
